Job summary: The Project Manager will focus on and oversee activities related to the development of new products in support of the Strategic Initiatives, New Product Development and Business Technology Roadmap. Has ownership for project customer product specifications. As such, this position will solicit required functional support for projects; utilizing leadership, business acumen, and project management skills to guide the direction of cross functional project teams in order to expedite the launch of new and differentiated products/technology into the market, managing projects of larger scope through the use of a staged development process. Ensures process is followed and deliverables are completed to quality standards. Specific Responsibility: • Serves as project leader, ensuring availability of resources to follow through on existing and initiation of new projects. Develops project plans, utilizing project mgmt best practices to deliver project goals within schedule, budget & scope • Establishes cross-functional team & maintains effective relationships with team members, customers & gains their trust & respect. Ensures deliverables meet product specifications or else re-negotiates/escalates need to change customer requirements with internal & external stake holders. • Develops project management plan with scope, objectives, Project GANTT chart, financial excel plan, risk management plan, product specifications, IP validation, SC requirements, Mfg capability assessment, communications plans & executed non-disclosure agreements. • Tracks actual progress to plan. Keeps plan up to date as project progresses. Keeps team updated on completion status of their project deliverables in timely manner. Escalates issues and communicates when schedule or budget do not align with plan. Identifies potential roadblocks and solicits input in overcoming barriers • Drives an environment of continuous improvement among project team members; Solicits input, compiles and communicates project lessons learned; Protects GT IP by executing appropriate agreements with customers, suppliers or partners and maintains an awareness of IP throughout the functional groups. • Visits customers and attends industry forums to gain clarity and market intelligences to support expeditious launch of new products.

Requirements

  • B.S or equivalent in Engineering or Marketing disciplines; Project Mgmt certification preferred
  • Understanding and use of Six Sigma tools and methodology desired; GB certification a plus
  • Min 5-7 yrs experience preferably in progressively challenging engineering, project mgmt and/or leadership roles

  • Strong Communication & Informing - Determines trigger points when NPD must gain approval from Gate Keepers (i.e.: changes on budget, schedules, resources & ROI commitments) and customers. Continually communicates NPD activities to other functional groups to promote dedication of GT resources towards accomplishment of project goals, deliverables, and time lines.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills - Can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal; Ensures availability of resources to follow through on existing and initiation of new projects.
  • Interpersonal Savvy - Builds constructive & effective relationships; Uses diplomacy & tact; can diffuse even high-tension situations comfortably.
  • Command and presentation skills - Commands attention & can manage group process during the presentation; can change tactics midstream when something isn't working.
  • Proficient in use of personal computer and required software: MS Office (Word, PPT, Excel, Project)

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of Six Sigma tools ideal – Yellow Belt certification preferred
  • This position may require U.S. Person status as defined by applicable law for authorized access to data controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) depending on the assigned business unit.
