We have a great opportunity to join our growing Project Management Team at our Sioux Falls, SD branch. The Project Manager oversees awarded projects from submittal through completion, ensuring accuracy, profitability, and a positive customer experience. As the primary point of contact for clients, the Project Manager manages communication, expectations, and problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle. They leverage product expertise and cross-department collaboration to meet timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Project Managers are empowered to triage customer issues and independently make decisions regarding change orders and cost adjustments. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, technical knowledge, and proactive communication, along with the ability to balance multiple priorities and drive projects in alignment with company goals.

Requirements

  • Education Highschool diploma or GED
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Experience and/or Training 3+ years of experience in project management, project coordinator, or related experience in electrical distribution, construction, manufacturing, or a similar technical/operations environment
  • Experience using project management or job-tracking software (ERP, CRM, or project platforms) to monitor timelines, milestones, and deliverables
  • Hands-on experience managing project logistics, including coordinating shipments, returns, submittals, and close-outs
  • Experience reviewing project plans, specifications, and job documents to support accurate quoting, bid organization, or project execution
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally with sales, purchasing, logistics, and other internal teams to resolve issues and drive efficient workflows
  • Proven ability to manage change orders, cost adjustments, and customer issues, including researching solutions and mitigating project risks
  • Experience reconciling invoices, resolving billing discrepancies, and tracking project expenses to support accurate job costing
  • Strong organizational skills with experience maintaining structured project documentation, such as contracts, change orders, invoices, correspondence, and milestone tracking
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear updates to customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders
  • Experience conducting post-project reviews or providing feedback to improve future project performance, customer satisfaction, or cost efficiency
  • Ability to interpret technical product information (lighting, electrical, plumbing, or related) or willingness to complete product-specific training within 6–12 months
  • Proficiency with standard office software, including Excel, Outlook, and document management tools.
  • Experience with order management systems.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities, deadlines, and customer needs while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
  • Valid US Driver’s license and/or reliable transportation

  • Eclipse knowledge preferred
  • Wholesale distribution experience preferred
  • 5+ years in electrical distribution or related experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage project workflow and communication using job management tools: track progress, coordinate with vendors and clients, and resolve issues to keep projects on schedule.
  • Oversee project logistics, including shipments, returns, submittals, and close-outs to ensure accurate and timely execution.
  • Organize and support bid projects by gathering plans/specs, maintaining documentation, tracking bid progress, and ensuring timely submissions.
  • Collaborate cross-departments by working closely with purchasing, sales, and logistics teams to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Distribute bid lists appropriately as needed.
  • Triage and manage customer issues, change orders, and cost adjustments, proactively identifying risks and developing solutions to maintain timelines.
  • Monitor and reconcile job costs, including invoices, billing discrepancies, and expense tracking.
  • Maintain structured project documentation (contracts, change orders, invoices, communications, milestone tracking) to support accurate project records.
  • Conduct post-project reviews (O&M feedback), share market insights, provide pricing support, and identify cost-saving alternatives.
  • Attend vendor training and stay updated on new industry trends to improve project solutions and customer offerings.
