About The Position

The Project Manager leads and oversees environmental health, industrial hygiene, and water quality projects from start to finish. You'll manage client relationships, coordinate fieldwork, prepare proposals and budgets, monitor project performance, and ensure all deliverables meet technical and regulatory standards. This role also includes mentoring staff, supporting business development, and collaborating with leadership to expand service offerings. This position is ideal for experienced professionals who enjoy managing projects, leading teams, and delivering high-quality results for clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Health and Safety, Biological or Physical Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of strong technical and industry experience, including managing small- to mid-scale projects within relevant service lines.
  • Consulting experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.
  • Effective, professional, and clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules and travel to multiple project locations as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Required certifications must be current and relevant to the scope of work.
  • Physical ability to stoop, kneel, climb, crawl, walk, and stand for extended periods in varied work environments to perform sampling activities
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer for documentation and reporting
  • Must be able to pass a background check, annual physicals, and OSHA-required respirator fit tests

Responsibilities

  • Lead and Manage Projects: Conduct job walks, pre-construction walkthroughs, and client meetings.
  • Prepare proposals, project budgets, and review project scope and deliverables.
  • Review and execute project contracts with support from the Director.
  • Perform field investigations, monitor field personnel, and ensure projects meet quality, safety, and schedule standards.
  • Track project scope, timelines, client interactions, and billing rates.
  • Monitor Work in Progress (WIP), including staff time entries, laboratory charges, and other project costs.
  • Select, rent, or borrow necessary equipment and verify calibration records.
  • Prepare and review project reports and ensure all project documentation is saved in electronic files.
  • Support invoicing, collections, and accounting processes as needed.
  • Mentor and Develop Staff: Assist in the recruitment, training, and development of staff.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to promote professional growth and technical excellence.
  • Support Business Development: Make and log client service and business development calls.
  • Attend association meetings, targeted presentations, and client events.
  • Deliver presentations and assist in preparing marketing materials, including project summaries.
  • Coordinate with the Business Development team to identify and pursue local opportunities.
  • Support the Director in researching and identifying new service lines for the local market.
  • Maintain Technical Expertise: Maintain required technical certifications and attend internal and external training programs, including FACS University.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and applicable regulations.
