About The Position

We are looking for a motivated Interoperability & HIE Modernization Project Manager ready to take us to the next level! We are looking for an Interoperability & HIE Modernization Project Manager to lead critical projects advancing health information exchange (HIE) capabilities and interoperability across healthcare, public health, and community partners. This position is full-time and hybrid, with remote work available 2 days per week and on-site presence in Indianapolis required 3 days per week. Travel is required for this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in public health, health informatics, information systems, or a related field
  • 5+ years direct, applicable experience in project or program management, health IT, healthcare operations, or data/interoperability initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder programs or projects
  • Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to leadership and external stakeholders
  • Experience managing vendors, contracts, or external partners
  • Proficiency with common productivity and project management tools (e.g., Microsoft O365, project management platforms, collaboration tools)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Working knowledge of healthcare data exchange, interoperability concepts, or HIE environments

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of interoperability and HIE modernization projects
  • Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, risk registers, and performance metrics
  • Coordinate with internal teams (IT, legal, finance, RHTP initiative leads) and external partners (vendors, providers, regional coalitions, and stakeholders)
  • Manage vendor relationships, including contract oversight, deliverable tracking, and performance management
  • Support adoption of interoperability standards, data exchange frameworks, and best practices (e.g., HL7, FHIR, APIs, data sharing agreements)
  • Track project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement, change management, and communication efforts related to modernization efforts
  • Prepare briefings, reports, and presentations for leadership, partners, and oversight bodies as needed
  • Ensure projects align with broader organizational strategy, RHTP goals, and long-term sustainability objectives
  • Support other Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) activities as requested
