About The Position
We are looking for a motivated Interoperability & HIE Modernization Project Manager ready to take us to the next level! We are looking for an Interoperability & HIE Modernization Project Manager to lead critical projects advancing health information exchange (HIE) capabilities and interoperability across healthcare, public health, and community partners. This position is full-time and hybrid, with remote work available 2 days per week and on-site presence in Indianapolis required 3 days per week. Travel is required for this role.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in public health, health informatics, information systems, or a related field
- 5+ years direct, applicable experience in project or program management, health IT, healthcare operations, or data/interoperability initiatives
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder programs or projects
- Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to leadership and external stakeholders
- Experience managing vendors, contracts, or external partners
- Proficiency with common productivity and project management tools (e.g., Microsoft O365, project management platforms, collaboration tools)
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Working knowledge of healthcare data exchange, interoperability concepts, or HIE environments
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of interoperability and HIE modernization projects
- Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, risk registers, and performance metrics
- Coordinate with internal teams (IT, legal, finance, RHTP initiative leads) and external partners (vendors, providers, regional coalitions, and stakeholders)
- Manage vendor relationships, including contract oversight, deliverable tracking, and performance management
- Support adoption of interoperability standards, data exchange frameworks, and best practices (e.g., HL7, FHIR, APIs, data sharing agreements)
- Track project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement, change management, and communication efforts related to modernization efforts
- Prepare briefings, reports, and presentations for leadership, partners, and oversight bodies as needed
- Ensure projects align with broader organizational strategy, RHTP goals, and long-term sustainability objectives
- Support other Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) activities as requested
