About The Position

UCSF’s Office of Communications (OC) works in partnership with all UCSF control points to communicate UCSF’s excellence and elevate and promote its mission and values. This position is responsible for managing and supporting cross-functional projects led by the OC’s Internal Communications unit. The ideal candidate for this role possesses a proactive, service-oriented work ethic; exhibits strong writing, editing, and verbal skills; and enjoys collaborating with colleagues with diverse levels of experience and seniority while demonstrating sound judgement in maintaining discretion and confidentiality based on the nature of the projects assigned. The Project Manager plays a vital role in ensuring key communications projects run smoothly, on time, and within budget. Reporting to the Director of Office Operations, with a dotted line to the Executive Director of Internal Communications, the Project Manager is responsible for providing project management for various cross-functional projects, and will help drive the execution of internal communications efforts as well as day-to-day department needs. Key responsibilities include coordinating and managing special projects and campaigns within the Office of Communications; leading the planning, coordination and execution of onsite meetings and events; providing leadership and oversight for documenting, planning, executing, and evaluating projects according to timelines and budgets; working with various project sponsors and with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure quality control throughout project life cycles; and providing scheduling support for the executive director of Internal Communications. As a member of the central operations team, this position is cross-trained to perform multiple responsibilities that enable the mission of the OC to be carried out in a highly professional and timely manner. This role will also work independently, and at times collaboratively with central operations colleagues when appropriate, to prepare background material on projects; support department recruitments in collaboration with the executive director of internal communications; establish and implement policies and procedures for the departmental use of the OC’s online project management tool; proof and manage electronic filing materials and communications; monitor project budgets and expenditures, and independently perform ongoing analysis to track, evaluate, project, and report on the financial status of Internal Communications funds; and perform other duties as assigned. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $72,000 - $154,600 (Annual Rate). Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Three or more years of related work experience
  • Experience in project management and event coordination
  • Analytical / problem-solving skills
  • Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes while maintaining professionalism
  • Excellent mathematical skills and understanding of budgets
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently or in groups
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
