Responsibilities include the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals. Project managers should take ownership of projects and work to meet benchmarks as well as set budgets. It is essential that the project manager distribute accurate information in a timely manner to the appropriate personnel. The project manager’s most vital skill is communication. Communication is integral to everything the project manager does. The project manager will always be in control of the scope through rigid management of the client’s detailed needs and processes for delivery. Scope changes will be handled in a structured and controlled manner to avoid budget overages.

Requirements

  • Pass background check and drug screening requirements.
  • The position requires frequent travel.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and meet requirements to operate company vehicles.

  • Able to read, write and speak English fluently, required.

Nice To Haves

  • Able to read, write and speak Spanish a plus.
  • Preferred experience in construction, or equipment rental industry.
  • PMP certification preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret drawings to evaluate the needs of projects, including: reviewing current inventory needs with the inventory team and any fabrication needs.
  • Equipment takeoffs may be altered at this time to optimize companywide and regional inventory availability.
  • Review client contracts and communicate any milestones or stipulations to project team, especially completion dates outside of standard terms.
  • Check availability of specialty items to avoid overbooking.
  • Projecting labor for both erection and dismantle, and implementing safety processes and procedures for projects.
  • Planning and implementation of job budgets within SPORTS in advance.
  • The project manager should tie costs to activities and materials to build budgets from bottom up with sales representatives.
  • Discuss project budgets goals and expectations with pertinent parties.
  • Acquire permits with local building departments in locations throughout the US when necessary.
  • Conduct pre-planning meetings.
  • Track notes and action items to follow up with the team.
  • Perform site visits to review the scope of work with the client and coordinate with various vendors on the direction of the job.
  • Client communication of project plan prior to project start.
  • Ensure all rental equipment (i.e.: forklifts, trucks, shoring) is scheduled prior to starting of project and returned at project close.
  • Assign usage dates to structures to reserve inventory throughout project based on client provided schedule or internal milestones.
  • Manage build and strike dates, notify Operations of any date changes as they occur.
  • Periodically visit job sites to inspect and ensure that fieldwork progress is appropriate to job timelines and complies with company safety/quality standards.
  • Provide technical advice to job teams to guarantee compliance with job specifications.
  • Track and inform management of any significant change orders.
  • Assist Operations with inventory management and formal cycle counts of material onsite.
  • Modify takeoffs to align current needs with onsite inventory counts and needs.
  • Maintain and update budget regularly to reflect current margin.
  • Inform senior management of significant changes in project plans and budgets.
  • Procure consumable materials to complete project if justified.
  • Work with inventory team on any capital purchases and delivery times.
  • Produce weekly reports for projects over $200K and a build duration greater than 2 weeks.
  • Participate in the generation of final build to capture design changes and to better prepare for future events.
  • Reconcile all invoices in a timely manner.
  • Work with operations on the allocation of materials loading out of the project.
  • Project Managers communicate outbound trucking schedules with project lead and inventory team.
  • Coordinate debriefings and record notes in an “after action report” for future projects.
  • Implement processes for post event reviews.
  • Document both financial and operational performance items for potential process improvements.
  • Generate as-built drawings for reoccurring projects to aid in accuracy year to year.
  • Ensure all rental equipment is returned entirely and expeditiously.
