The Opportunity We are seeking a Project Manager to support a science and technology office within a federal national security agency. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of innovation, science, and national security. The federal science and technology organization leads the development and evaluation of emerging technologies that strengthen the nation’s ability to respond to evolving threats. As a Project Manager, you will help guide programs that move these technologies from research to operational use across a federal national security environment. The Role You will join a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, analysts, and program professionals supporting federal research and innovation portfolios. These programs span areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and machine learning, data science, biometrics, modeling and simulation, and other emerging technologies. As a Project Manager, you will support the planning, coordination, and execution of scientific and technical programs. You will work closely with government program managers, technical experts, and cross‑functional teams to track progress, manage deliverables, and ensure successful execution of program objectives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience supporting program or project management activities for government clients, including coordinating multidisciplinary technical teams
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship is required (required by the federal government for this position)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, public policy, business, or a related field
  • Active Federal Public Trust clearance
  • Experience supporting federal programs, preferably in technology, research, or innovation environments
  • Experience supporting federal research and development organizations
  • Familiarity with research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) programs
  • Knowledge of emerging technology areas such as AI/ML, cybersecurity, biometrics, or data analytics
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Support planning and execution of scientific and technical programs within a federal research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) portfolio
  • Manage project schedules, milestones, deliverables, and program documentation
  • Coordinate with government stakeholders, technical leads, and subject matter experts to track program progress
  • Prepare reports, briefings, and documentation for program leadership and stakeholders
  • Monitor project risks, dependencies, and performance to support successful program delivery
  • Facilitate collaboration across interdisciplinary technical teams
  • Support program reviews, meetings, and technical exchanges across federal research and innovation programs
  • Assist with program performance tracking and continuous improvement efforts
