About The Position

Kearney and Company is seeking a Project Manager to join our Chesapeake, VA team! This individual will serve as a Project Manager/Senior Consultant with the ability to provide accounting and internal controls support, business process reengineering/change management initiatives, integration of technology into day to day processes and apply critical thinking skills, knowledge, and experience of federal financial management. The Project Manager will lead a team of analysts to produce financial reports and analyses using technical, financial, and analytical skills in accordance with GAAP, OMB, and other Federal regulations. Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of accounting and related financial management experience, including federal accounting expertise
  • PMP (or related) certification
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Interim Secret security clearance (requires U.S. citizenship)
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, Power Apps and related tools
  • Ability to directly interface with Government stakeholders, develop/manage project plans, identify/address project risks
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, as required
  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to apply federal financial accounting policy and regulations
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data sets, identify data anomalies, issues, and define approaches to resolve discrepancies
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task across both business and technical deliverables

Nice To Haves

  • CGFM or related certification
  • Masters Degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • Experience with Federal financial and accounting policies, standards, and systems requirements (e.g., CFO Act 1990, OMB Regulations, GAAP, FASAB, GAO, Treasury’s Bureau of the Fiscal Service, USSGL)
  • Experience with federal financial systems modernization efforts and transformation/change management requirements
  • Experience with federal financial reporting, budgetary and proprietary accounting principles
  • Experience in operational accounting or auditing
  • Experience with DHS/DoD entities
