About The Position

As a Project Manager at H&R Block, you will lead the initiation, planning, execution, and delivery of projects that bring together diverse teams, processes, and systems. You will partner closely with project sponsors, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure project requirements and deliverables align with both strategic priorities and day-to-day business goals. Through strong relationship-building and disciplined execution, you will drive accountability for both short- and long-term project outcomes, helping advance initiatives that support our clients and the broader organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience
  • 3 years minimum related work experience
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse work group as member of a team
  • Ability to lead in a matrix environment and at a distance (virtually)
  • Demonstrated decision making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated effectiveness in presenting complex information to multiple organizational levels, with strong facilitation and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and product planning tools
  • Familiarity with Project Management methodologies
  • Track record of establishing priorities and deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a consulting environment.
  • Familiarity with compliance (regulatory, Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), etc.) and governance issues.
  • PMP certification, or equivalent, or completed work towards PMP certification, or equivalent.
  • Some tax or financial background.

Responsibilities

  • Own overall responsibility for the success of assigned projects
  • Understand the business needs of the customer
  • Define project objectives and deliverables to meet those needs
  • Identify assumptions and constraints that impact schedule, resources, costs, quality and risk
  • Define scope, schedule, budget, and quality levels for the projects
  • Identify, obtain, and organize necessary project resources
  • Prepare and execute plans for quality, change control, and communications
  • Prepare and gain approval on an overall Project Plan
  • Execute against the Project Plan while controlling and reporting on scope, schedule, quality, costs, resources, and risks
  • Verify and documents project results
  • Complete all tasks necessary to close the project, transitioning to an operational state, if necessary
