About The Position

The position involves managing multiple concurrent transmission electric system capital improvement projects from initiation through completion. The role requires assembling cross-functional project teams for high-priority projects and coordinating their efforts to ensure successful project completion on time, within scope, and budget. Responsibilities include developing detailed project schedules, monitoring progress, identifying at-risk activities, facilitating project meetings, managing project costs, and communicating project status to leadership and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree (Engineering strongly preferred) or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in project and/or construction management in electric utility construction or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education; Transmission electric system capital project experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree (Engineering strongly preferred) with a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in project and/or construction management in the electric utility industry or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education; Transmission electric system capital project experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in project and/or construction management in electric utility construction.
  • Bachelor of Science degree (Engineering strongly preferred) with a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in project and/or construction management in the electric utility industry or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education; Transmission electric system capital project experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of progressively responsible experience in project and/or construction management in electric utility construction or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, direct, and motivate a cross-functional team.

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) preferred.
  • Familiarity with creating a project schedule using Primavera, Microsoft Project, or equivalent scheduling software preferred.
  • Experience with identifying alternative solutions and performing risk assessments.
  • Experience in coordinating and negotiating with outside vendors or third parties.
  • Familiarity with electric utility construction processes preferred.
  • Familiarity with electric substation and line equipment preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and/or projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manages multiple concurrent transmission electric system capital improvement projects from initiation through completion.
  • Assembles a cross-functional project team for each high-priority project and coordinates their efforts.
  • Leads project teams to successfully complete projects and meet objectives on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Facilitates development of a detailed baseline project schedule to identify critical paths and milestones.
  • Updates construction dates for assigned projects in the project schedule monthly.
  • Monitors progress towards the schedule by all groups for high-priority projects.
  • Identifies at-risk activities and addresses issues to prevent project delays.
  • Facilitates various project meetings with the project team and stakeholders.
  • Acts as escalation point for project issues, risks, and change requests.
  • Manages and resolves project issues and escalates concerns to leadership.
  • Monitors and controls project costs through preparation of monthly cash flow projections.
  • Reviews construction contractor quotes and issues purchase orders.
  • Reviews and approves construction contractor change orders and invoices.
  • Communicates project status, issues, and risks to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Works well with personnel from all areas of the company to ensure performance of project objectives.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
