Leidos Engineering is seeking a Project Manager to oversee and coordinate projects for a large electric utility client in Kentucky. Ideal Candidates will have a strong background in managing complex projects and programs related to the planning, design and construction of electrical grid infrastructure. This role will have client facing responsibilities and requires expertise in navigating the regulatory landscape and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. The Project Manager will be part of the Strategic Program Consulting team within Leidos' Power Delivery Solutions Division that provides consulting services to both public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities. These consulting services provide clients with overall project management tasks in the areas of comprehensive engineering design of electrical transmission and distribution, substation and transmission line projects nationwide.

  • Manage utility programs and projects, ensuring all phases of approved project assignments are completed efficiently and within scope, schedule and budget.
  • Interface with utility management personnel groups including planning, asset management, engineering, construction, siting, public outreach, and regulatory relations, legal and administrative departments.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for all aspects of the project to provide project status updates and guidance from planning through the closeout.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering teams on status of progress, schedule, estimated lead times, etc.
  • Oversee and maintain project queues, ensure smooth project flow from intake through the study lifecycle.
  • Assist in the creation of project orders, documentation tracking, and process improvement initiatives tied to project workflows.
  • Ensure project costs, schedule and scope are managed, including the development of recovery plans, to stay within stakeholder approved project parameters.
  • Client stakeholder engagement will involve progress reporting, capital expenditure forecasting, earned value financial management, schedule adherence and risk mitigation across a portfolio of substation, transmission and distribution projects.
  • Consistently communicate and work with ease across multiple program and function support areas including the client, project teams, functional leadership, subcontractors, and support personnel.
  • Assist client procurement and estimating departments with the preparation of bid documents, development of requests for proposal responses and cost estimates.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project dashboard reports and KPI tracking.
  • Oversee various and specific proposal development efforts that accurately defines the project scope, schedule and budgets.
  • Manage the development of required outage and construction execution plans.
  • Ensure a good working relationship between the project team, line managers, and interfacing organizations.
  • Write comprehensive and technical and project reports.
  • Coordinate client billing and invoice resolution.
  • Plan and prepare budgets including work order creation.
  • Support/enforce Quality Control and Quality Assurance.
  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate project schedules.
  • Perform field activities and attend site visits as necessary to support project execution.
  • Support and oversee construction through Construction Management activities.
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant Project Management experience or 2 years of Engineering experience within the electric power industry, including US electric utilities and/or power generation.
  • Knowledge of business issues associated with power delivery service.
  • Familiarity with industry regulatory environment for electric utilities.
  • Strong Written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
  • Understanding of Substation and Transmission systems and related processes is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to demonstrate recent and in-depth expertise in power generation.
  • PMP Certification is preferred but not required; Ideal Candidates will have a desire to obtain PMP Certification within two years.
  • Candidates with experience in a consulting environment will be preferred.
  • Construction management or field experience is preferred but not required.
  • Periodic travel is required; Candidates should possess valid US driver's license.
  • Experience with PowerBI, MS Project, Primavera P6, or related scheduling platforms.
