About The Position

US Coatings is currently seeking a Project Manager who would be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations, maintenance, finance, compliance, and safety regulations at Detyens Shipyard for US Coatings. The Project Manager will work closely with the President, VP of Production, and Estimating, actively communicating, coordinating, and scheduling with Detyens Shipyard assigned project managers on various projects. This role involves overseeing and monitoring projects to ensure work is completed on time and within budget, while also ensuring adherence to safety policies and compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in the maritime industry regarding vessel preservation methods and coating systems.
  • Advanced computer experience including high proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Programs.
  • Proficient communication skills both oral and written.
  • Thorough, well-organized, systematic, and meticulous recordkeeping.
  • Ability to effectively work with a variety of other people, especially other company personnel.
  • Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items is a plus.
  • Prior shipyard experience.
  • Project management, estimating, and production management experience.
  • Ability to generate, read, and update project schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the President, VP of Production, and Estimating.
  • Actively communicate, coordinate, and schedule with Detyens Shipyard assigned project managers on various projects.
  • Work with Estimating as required for bid proposals and estimate reviews.
  • Provide and evaluate work item costs to ensure production manpower and material costs are tailored to the estimate.
  • Work closely with USC Safety Manager to ensure all USC personnel are following approved USC safety procedures/policies.
  • Participate in all safety investigations.
  • Oversee and monitor projects to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Review job schedules and complexity of projects to determine work priorities and assign appropriate staff to specific jobs/tasks.
  • Organize, supervise, lead, and train employees to complete projects within established guidelines and timeframe.
  • Maintain control of personnel/project staffing and may recommend disciplinary action to the VP of Production & Human Resources Manager.
  • Submit timesheets into payroll by the deadline.
  • Ensure safety policies are adhered to and compliance requirements are met.
  • Provide project managers and support staff with project updates and other relevant information.
  • Implement inspection checklists.
  • Responsible for production efficiency in the Charleston, SC area.
  • Manage and assign personnel to all jobs at that location.
  • Manage and assign equipment to all jobs at that location.
  • Manage QA support personnel and records at that location.
  • Review production schedules to manage overtime and personnel.
  • Approve all vacation time, sick days, etc. for all superintendents and foremen assigned to that location.
  • Ensure work scope variations, production delays, and emergent work scope is documented and properly compensated.
  • Communicate daily with all active job managers and office personnel.
  • Explore and recommend new processes and equipment to improve the efficiency and capability of the company.
