This position has two major roles. You will lead a team of technical writers in delivering documentation, training materials, and multimedia products in support of NAVAIR PMA-281 mission planning products for domestic and international end users. This supports four major product lines. You will set priorities and schedule, as well as serve as an internal SME for the team on technical questions regarding mission planning. You will assist PMA-281 product teams on issues on determining documentation and other aspects of life cycle logistics of software supporting Navy and Marine Corps mission planning. You will communicate with stakeholders on status and schedule of documentation and training development, software duplication and distribution, training delivery, and plans for sustainment or retirement of software packages. You will coordinate with other contractors and NAVAIR organizations to obtain source documents. Occasionally you may be asked by NAVAIR for opinion of suitability and markings on documents from other organizations or asked to assist with production of government documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution
  • US Naval Aviator, Naval Flight Officer, US Air Force Pilot, or Combat Systems Officer
  • 2000 hours experience in military aircraft
  • Mission Commander designation or equivalent
  • Naval Mission Planning Systems (JMPS, TAMPS, etc.)
  • Electronic Kneeboard (EKB)
  • Understand, follow, and enforce within the team various policies such as DODINST 5200.1 Vol2, DODINST 5230.24, and applicable program Security Classification Guides.
  • U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Attend various meetings, acting as a primary liaison between PMA-281 and V2X. Take note of any issues which impact delivery of items to Marlton NJ Team, deployment dates to test or fleet units, schedule changes, or other logistics issues. Understand all organizational processes to extent that you can discuss potential impacts of schedule changes with stakeholders during meetings. Inform internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Supervise team of technical writers. Ensure they have necessary software and systems to generate content for documents, training materials, and videos. Ensure they have relevant source documents and SME contacts. Answer various corporate policy questions, approve timecards, PTO, etc.
  • Prepare for and facilitate weekly meetings with stakeholders and Program APML
  • Attend weekly staff meeting with V2X team, communicate any issues which may impact the team overall. Relay any relevant information to documentation team.
  • Maintain Gannt chart of major product lines and delivery dates. Publish to internal stakeholders as part of weekly meeting with APML.
  • Prepare for and facilitate weekly meetings with your team. Discuss schedule, priorities, roadblocks to success, alternative solutions for problems.
  • Maintain documents list for all software suites used by fleet. Obtain source documentation from other government or contractor organizations. Create and maintain organized repository of files for other team mates to reference. Prepare slides for various milestone briefs and documents with status of documentation relevant to that project.
  • Review final deliverables before sending them to outside sources. Ensure correct and consistent markings are used.
  • Serve as technical SME for various issues related to mission planning. Refer questions to other SMEs as necessary.
  • Author original material for training and documentation sources, using your own technical knowledge of systems or by synthesizing inputs from other sources or experts.
  • Report status and accomplishments via CDRL reports.
