Project Manager/Senior Project Engineer - Construction

Integrated Builders GroupEl Dorado Hills, CA
$92,000 - $110,000

About The Position

ABOUT IBG Integrated Builders Group is a design-build commercial contractor with a strong and growing reputation across the western United States, from California to Texas. Since 2006, we’ve been trusted partners in complex commercial construction — driven by expertise, accountability, and a “Thrilled Client Commitment” to exceed client expectations at every stage. We are growing fast, and we want driven people to grow with us. Our team is nimble, accountable, and empowered. At IBG, you own your projects — from strategic planning and conception all the way through commissioning — with direct access to senior leadership and real influence over outcomes. THE ROLE We are looking for a senior-level Project Engineer with some experience as a Project Manager, to take full ownership of complex commercial construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This is a journey-level role requiring mastery of both the engineering and operational sides of project delivery — plan reading, procurement, scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor management, and client communication all fall within your scope. You are a self-starter who exercises independent judgment, thrives with autonomy, and holds yourself to a high standard. You take pride in doing things the right way and never compromise on your commitments to clients or teammates.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial construction project engineering and/or project management
  • Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractors, budgets, schedules, and multiple projects simultaneously
  • Hands-on experience running projects on-site from pre-construction through closeout
  • Proven track record working alongside architects, engineers, inspectors, and permitting authorities
  • Professional-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Project)
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze complex construction plans and specifications with confidence
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, cost control, scheduling, and safety processes
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable — you take full ownership and follow through
  • A self-starter who exercises independent judgment and works effectively with minimal supervision
  • A clear communicator — written and verbal — who keeps teams aligned and clients informed
  • Collaborative by nature but accountable by default — you know how to lead without a title
  • Uncompromising on ethics and client commitments; your word means something
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • Procore experience strongly preferred; experience with other construction management platforms considered
  • Proficiency with takeoff tools such as Bluebeam, Microsoft Project or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering and design coordination on complex commercial design-build projects from conception through commissioning
  • Perform detailed plan reading, scope analysis, and quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam, Microsoft Project or similar tools
  • Prepare cost estimates, technical studies, conceptual designs, and engineering forecasts
  • Develop, evaluate, and recommend alternative project proposals; present findings to clients, contractors, and consultants
  • Interpret and apply applicable codes, regulations, and design criteria; review and approve drawings and specifications
  • Own full-cycle project execution — from pre-construction kickoff through final closeout — with accountability for schedule, budget, and quality
  • Perform bidding, bid analysis, and buyout; draft subcontracts and write detailed subcontract scopes of work
  • Manage submittals, RFIs, ASIs, change orders, procurement, and all project documentation end-to-end
  • Develop and maintain project schedules; track budgets, update cost reports, and manage vendor invoices
  • Procure long-lead materials; review and approve vendor drawings, equipment specs, and material requests
  • Conduct site visits, monitor progress, and proactively identify and resolve delays, conflicts, and field issues
  • Ensure compliance with codes, permits, safety regulations, and IBG’s quality standards on every project
  • Lead project closeout including punch list coordination, final documentation, and client turnover
  • Serve as the central coordination point across the entire project team: PMs, superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, architects, engineers, inspectors, and clients
  • Maintain clear, consistent, and proactive communication with all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Lead and participate in design review meetings, OAC meetings, and project status updates
  • Prepare written technical documents including design criteria, specifications, reports, and meeting minutes
  • Manage document control — ensure all project records, revisions, and communications are current and accurately distributed
  • Assist in root cause analysis and develop effective resolution plans for field construction issues

Benefits

  • comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
  • a robust 401(k) plan
  • profit-sharing opportunities
  • ample support for your professional development
