The Safety Project Manager at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana is responsible for managing large-scale safety projects, particularly in the context of electrification transformation and lithium battery integration. This role involves developing and implementing safety strategies, managing safety requirements for construction and non-standard work, and serving as a liaison for contractors and vendors to ensure compliance with Toyota's safety standards.

  • Support Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana's electrification transformation by providing guidance for lithium battery integration.
  • Develop and implement local site New Model Safety Strategies through engagement with site manufacturing executives and the regional Toyota safety team.
  • Manage implementation of Toyota Construction and Non-Standard Work Safety Requirements to both Toyota Team Members and Contractors.
  • Manage situations and support countermeasure development that arise through contractor safety violations and Toyota project timelines.
  • Be the Safety liaison for all Toyota contractors and vendors by keeping them up to date on new standards and practices required of Toyota contractors and vendors.
  • Manage, delegate, and prioritize activities for a team of construction safety support contractors focused on implementation of TCSR.
  • Associate's Degree or higher in Engineering, Safety, Risk Management, or related discipline.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and managing proactive safety programs and project plans for Toyota as a Team Member or Contractor working for Toyota.
  • Experience evaluating workplace hazards utilizing established risk assessment tools such as machine / chemical / and/or FRAMP/MILES.
  • Experience interpreting and applying safety standards such as OSHA, ISO, ACGIH and/or ANSI.
  • Experience with New Model activities including ergonomic risk assessment and vendor management.
  • Working experience with TCSR (Toyota Construction Safety Requirements).
  • TBP completion through panel.
  • Supervisory experience, with responsibility for direct reports.
  • Safety related certification(s) such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE).
