About The Position

Tom Curren Companies is a long-established residential remodeling and home improvement company serving Metro-West and Greater Boston homeowners for nearly 40 years. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager - Carpentry Focus to lead carpentry and interior/exterior painting projects from post-sale through completion. This role is critical to delivering high-quality projects, protecting profitability, and providing an exceptional customer experience. The Carpentry Project Manager oversees residential carpentry and painting projects by coordinating subcontracted crews, validating scope, managing timelines, controlling costs, and ensuring customer satisfaction from project kickoff through final payment. This role serves as the primary owner of the client experience and subcontractor relationship during production and works closely with sales, design, and resource planning teams to ensure projects are delivered exactly as promised.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of hands-on residential carpentry experience, including: Building envelope repairs and replacements, Decks, windows, siding, and exterior carpentry, and Interior/exterior paint and finish work
  • Massachusetts CSL is in good standing
  • Experience managing subcontractors
  • General technology proficiency (computer, iPad, smartphone)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs occasionally and climb ladders up to 40 ft
  • Experience in estimating, negotiating, and selling high-end change orders
  • Strong scheduling, planning, and multi-project management capability
  • Financial literacy and the ability to analyze project costs and performance
  • Excellent organization, problem-solving, and time-management skills
  • Strong client-facing communication and professionalism
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Computer proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Gmail; Zoho CRM a plus)
  • Ability to provide own basic carpenter tools
  • Personal vehicle capable of transporting construction materials
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate carpentry and painting projects from estimating through production, including scope, pricing, timelines, subcontractors, materials, and labor
  • Direct subcontracted carpentry and painting crews to execute projects safely, on time, and in alignment with financial goals
  • Assess job sites to validate the original remodeling agreement and identify risks, changes, or efficiencies
  • Coordinate with the Resource Planning Manager on material ordering, receiving, reconciliation, and returns
  • Support sales and crew leaders with change orders and scope adjustments
  • Manage procurement and material selection to protect company margins and quality standards
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, permitting, HOA requirements, and local/state regulations
  • Independently work with municipalities to secure required permits
  • Conduct subcontractor meetings covering best practices, safety, and company processes
  • Maintain consistent documentation and communication to support final billing and collection
