About The Position

The department of Psychiatry has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Project Manager, Research Support to work on the UHealth campus. The Project Manager, Research Support coordinates and leads efforts in a variety of research activities that are complex and wide in scope. Moreover, the Project Manager, Research Support operates with the goal of ensuring that the collection of data and administration of studies are performed efficiently and in compliance with applicable guidelines. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in neuroscience or psychology with previous research experience. Typically, positions are for a minimum of 2 years though exceptional applicants may be considered for shorter term positions in rare instances. The position will be hybrid with the option to do fieldwork in either New York City or Miami and involves a five day work week that may include work adjustments to accommodate participant schedules via evening or weekend effort. As a key member of the research team, the Project Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of a large research team including (direct and indirect) supervision of research staff (both junior and senior), post-doctoral candidates, and undergraduate research trainees. The position requires a robust background in clinical research management from startup and closeout while maintaining compliance with good clinical practice and ICH guidelines. This includes hands-on support as needed in multiple areas inclusive of recruitment and retention. The incumbent will be proactive with the PI and study team in ensuring all project deliverables are completed in a timely manner including supporting the submission of new federal grants and drafting interim progress reports. The PM would be the key point person in coordinating high-level meetings with the New York and Miami investigators and study teams to ensure the research is carried out appropriately. The incumbent will communicate and work closely with Department and University-wide stakeholders (eg. ORA, HSRO, HR etc). The Project Manager will also be responsible for assessing the needs of the projects and would be responsible for hiring and HR-related matters. The position requires 100% onsite presence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required.
  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data and ability to present the information in a comprehensive manner.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Ability to maintain poise and escalate matters appropriately.
  • Must be able to work with teams directly and indirectly.
  • Must demonstrate effective communication and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • An advanced degree is preferred.
  • Previous experience with managing grants is preferred.
  • The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in neuroscience or psychology with previous research experience.

Responsibilities

  • Aids in the evaluation of problems with workflow, organization, and planning and develops appropriate analytical approaches.
  • Maintains multiple protocol books and chronicles manuscript preparation.
  • Performs analyses of computerized datasets using standard packages to import, update, and manipulate datasets.
  • Presents studies’ results at professional scientific meetings and conferences.
  • Writes manuscripts and journal articles for peer-reviewed medical journals.
  • Ensures that research program objectives are communicated, met, and results are documented.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • Complete quarterly and annual report submissions
  • Assist with all aspects of proposal submissions and liaison with Psychiatry’s Pre-award team
  • Complete contract submissions and liaison with all contract stakeholders
  • Complete IRB/Regulatory submissions and liaison with all IRB stakeholders
  • Ensure Informed Consent Forms are signed
  • Complete actions in the Workday financial system, including but not limited to purchases, reimbursements, and order tracking
  • Coordinate, maintain, analyze and report weekly, monthly or quarterly regarding study enrollment, grant financials and overall grant portfolio health
  • Take part in the hire process of all research team members and supervise direct reports
