About the position

Urban is seeking an experienced Project Manager to work in our Rail and Transit Department. With focus on management of Design projects, the PM will manage Engineering budgets and schedules and mitigate any potential scope changes, so they are aligned with project cost. The PM will assist with work plans, project prioritization and the assessment of project feasibility and deliverability while supporting and fostering team performance. The EPM will establish consistent work plans, budgets, business rules and project development for the successful delivery of Engineering projects. The successful candidate will be a hard-working individual that enjoys a challenging, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment. The candidate will use their related experience to jump right into a variety of multidisciplinary projects. The Project Manager will be responsible for providing planning and project management for multi-disciplinary engineering and architectural design projects. The position will directly serve the passenger rail and transit market and lend support to the firm's facilities, and aviation, markets. Candidates must be able to provide project management for various types of projects that may include stations, terminals, storage, industrial, and maintenance facilities. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to work directly with railroads and manage the firm’s multiple engineering disciplines and subconsultants while meeting project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of a project including managing the internal team, and sub-consultants, leading client communication, and monitoring project financials.
  • Collaborate with other professionals from various departments in order to discuss project challenges and engineering solutions needed to serve the client.
  • Perform work as part of a team in accordance with the project budget and schedule limitations.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to the project team to ensure quality technical services.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with quality management system standards and client requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with our clients on specific projects; delivering with effective organization, communication, project tracking, financial management, and team management.
  • Manage internal and external projects in planning and design including architecture and engineering design.
  • Establish budgets forecasts, staffing estimates, and schedules.
  • Facilitate and lead communications between internal design departments and external consultants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture from an AAB accredited program.
  • Registration as Registered Professional Engineer, Architect (AIA) or Registered Architect (RA) in the United States.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Project Management position successfully delivering multi-disciplinary projects with a minimum of 3 years of project management experience on facilities design projects.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of project management procedures (PMI), financial management, CPM scheduling, cost control and forecasting, communications and document control.
  • Proficiency in the use of standard Microsoft Office products and the ability to become competent with latest Project management software and reporting systems.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written.
