About The Position

We are seeking a strategic and collaborative Project Manager to lead public health interoperability initiatives supporting a large‑scale database migration and ongoing work across multiple databases for the State of Michigan business units. In this role, you will oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of projects that improve data exchange between public health agencies, healthcare providers, and community partners. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in project management, health informatics, stakeholder engagement, and technical environments, and is comfortable working with executive leadership, vendors, and cross‑functional teams.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of project management experience, preferably within public health, healthcare IT, or related environments
  • Experience working in Microsoft server environments, including Microsoft SQL Server
  • Strong technical aptitude paired with proven leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to effectively engage executive‑level stakeholders and technical teams alike
  • Experience developing and managing complex project plans, budgets, and timelines
  • Familiarity with health data standards and public health information systems
  • Experience with public health programs, clinical systems, or enterprise IT infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of Agile and/or Waterfall project management methodologies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Informatics, or a related field

Nice To Haves

  • PMP or CAPM certification
  • Experience working with Oracle database environments
  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Informatics, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Lead project stand‑up meetings and coordinate day‑to‑day project activities
  • Communicate project status, risks, and milestones to executive leadership through written updates, in‑person meetings, and PowerPoint briefings
  • Develop, manage, and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations
  • Partner closely with vendors to ensure alignment, accountability, and successful delivery
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to meet public health interoperability goals
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other applicable privacy and security regulations
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings and develop effective communication plans
  • Track project progress and prepare reports for leadership and funding partners
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and delivery barriers
  • Support and promote the adoption of new interoperability tools, systems, and workflows
