About The Position

The Pre-Construction Project Manager plans, manages, and forecasts renewable projects from inception through permitting. The Pre-Construction Project Manager will be deeply involved in customer-facing interactions, and act as the point person coordinating with the other departments including purchasing, accounting, engineering, field supervision, and safety of the project until it is handed off Construction Team. What you’ll do: Create and nurture client relationships, identify, and help close high-level solar, storage, & microgrid opportunities in collaboration with leadership and other departments. Identify complete scope of work of potential projects, as well as any qualifications and/or assumptions that need to be made. Assemble complete budgets or detailed estimates for potential projects. Engage in strategic negotiations considering both near and long-term effects. Develop and maintain project schedules that balance real-time progress, environmental factors, manpower availability, and customer expectations. Provide engineering and purchasing teams with a comprehensive understanding of awarded projects. Drive purchasing efforts for budgeting, bidding, and purchase order execution of long lead procurement items. Identify changes in scopes of work and price change orders accordingly. Analyze job progress and financials in a critical fashion to accurately project financials at completion, maximize profitability and provide status updates back to the customer. Provide Construction Team with smooth project handoff – this includes stakeholder introductions, exceptional organization of project documents, identification of risks and opportunities, summary of outstanding procurement, summary of financial status, and a clear path for mobilization and execution. Ensure project eligibility for all state and federal incentives starting at the point of contracting and monitoring compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management preferred
  • 2-5 years of complex electrical construction estimating and project management experience with proven success in resource management
  • 1-2 years in the renewable energy field; passion for renewable energy solutions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, Project and AI tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial solar photovoltaic, energy storage, and microgrid applications and how they interact with electrical utilities
  • Creativity and ability to develop innovative solutions and streamline workflows
  • Ability to communicate unfamiliar concepts to customers and team members effectively
  • Proven ability to help guide lesser experienced colleagues
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain, ladders, and remain active on-site for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
