The Project Manager will oversee the procurement, development, and implementation of a new electronic infectious disease surveillance system for the State. This role is critical for modernizing disease reporting and management, ensuring compliance with CDC specifications, and enhancing the current system until the new one is operational. The position requires strong project management skills, particularly in scope management, communication, and collaboration with various health program areas.

  • Coordinate and oversee all project management activities related to the procurement and implementation of a new electronic disease surveillance system.
  • Oversee upgrades of the current SCION system until the new system is in place.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress.
  • Communicate progress, risks, expectations, timelines, milestones, and other key project metrics to team members and management staff.
  • Review and determine the impact of all scope change requests and submit them to the Project Sponsor for review and approval.
  • Develop scope control and validation measures and communicate any changes to scope to all project participants.
  • Utilize processes, templates, etc. approved by the project management office.
  • Create contingency plans where project control is in jeopardy and implement revised project schedules in a timely manner.
  • PMP Certification (through PMI)
  • 5 years of experience in project management, particularly with large enterprise-level projects
  • Experience with requirements gathering
  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies
  • Experience in agile/scrum methodologies
  • Expertise in Microsoft O365 products and applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Project)
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to learn new systems and become an expert
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented with the ability to work under limited supervision.
  • Experience managing an ELC-funded project
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with technical staff, customers, and others involved in data-centric management
  • Experience with industry standard information security practices
