NYSERDA engages with stakeholders including residents, business owners, developers, community leaders, local government officials, universities, utilities, investors, entrepreneurs, and more, to develop, invest, and foster conditions that:  Attract the private sector capital investment needed to expand New York’s clean energy economy.  Overcome barriers to using clean energy at a large-scale in New York.  Enable New York’s communities and residents to benefit equitably in the clean energy transition.  JOB OVERVIEW NYSERDA seeks to hire 2 individuals who are enthusiastic about advancing building decarbonization to join our Technical Services team as a Project Manager/ Project Manager II/ Sr. Project Manager. This interdisciplinary team is part of the Clean and Resilient Buildings unit that engages with both private and public market sectors to increase the adoption of building energy efficiency and electrification across all sectors of the built environment in New York State. This team currently operates Programs such as FlexTech and OnSite Energy Manager that provide objective, technical analysis to help building owners make informed clean energy investments in their buildings. They provide services for existing buildings to upgrade building systems to electrified solutions.  The Project Managers will be responsible for managing project-related activities for Technical Services programs from concept and design, through development, production, and execution. The Project Manager will be responsible for project management, reporting, budgeting, contract management, required analysis, stakeholder relationships associated with the teams’ programs and other interventions introduced into the market, as applicable.  The Project Manager will assist in planning and developing interventions and strategies that overcome market barriers, encourage private capital investment, and accelerate the scale and penetration of clean energy.  The ideal candidate needs to be comfortable working in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment. They will need to enjoy interacting with and seeking feedback from stakeholders, have a high attention to detail and an internal drive to set and achieve personal and team goals. Preferably, this candidate also has experience with multiple customer sectors and an understanding of how they make capital investment decisions and operational improvements. Exposure to building performance and capital investments in the hospital or industrial sectors is a plus. 

Requirements

  • Project Manager (Salary range $78,333 -$131,298)
  • Required: Bachelor's degree and 5 years' experience of relevant experience in building energy efficiency or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree and 4 years of experience particularly in engineering, facilities management, public or business administration, architecture, or related field. 
  • Project Manager II (Salary range $93,659-$131,298)
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience in building energy efficiency or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree with 5 years of experience particularly in engineering, facilities management, public or business administration, architecture, or related field. 
  • Sr. Project Manager (Salary range $115,283-$145,682)
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of relevant experience in building energy efficiency or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree with 6 years particularly in engineering, facilities management, public or business administration, architecture, or related field.
  • Knowledge of and insight into building electrification, resiliency, energy management, regulatory proceedings, environmental and economic impacts, opportunities, and impediments across the housing, commercial, institutional, and/or industrial sectors. 
  • Understanding of policies, building science, engineering, and related construction market issues for residential and commercial building and building systems design and operation.
  • Understanding building systems and high efficiency technologies like high performance envelopes, geothermal heat pumps and/or cold climate heat pumps.
  • Exemplary program and project management skills with the ability to set priorities, develop and execute on a workplan, balance research, analysis, a stakeholder engagement with pragmatism, and an action-bias to deliver activity in the market.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability with a proactive and collaborative style.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management and planning skills to successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability and appetite to learn and assimilate new information and think holistically through complex problems with technical and non-technical components.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally with other teams.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams), Adobe Pro, as well as Salesforce (for project management).
  • Ability to travel 5-10 % across New York State.

Nice To Haves

  • Related professional certification in energy or building science or engineering preferred.
  • Experience with data analysis, proficiency with Salesforce, Tableau or MS Project.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with vendors to ensure NYSERDA's interests are promoted and protected in support of the above, and in accordance with NYSERDA and New York State Procurement Policies.
  • Develop Statements of Work, provide oversight, feedback and review of all tasks and deliverables and approve invoices for assigned contracts.
  • Manage buildings projects, studies and installations
  • Represent NYSERDA at meetings and events with external stakeholders.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of available NYSERDA Programs to identify internal coordination opportunities and inform stakeholders.
  • Manage and develop specific relationships while increasing coordination with leading service providers, engineers, and consultants to accelerate investment in decarbonization. 
  • Contribute to a team culture of openness and collaboration.
  • Develop and implement high-impact interventions that leverage opportunities for projects. 
  • Identify barriers and opportunities through analysis and research.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis for budgets and impacts of interventions using spreadsheet analysis with well-documented assumptions.
  • Manage implementation of initiatives, monitor initiative performance, and provide recommendations grounded in analysis and market feedback to optimize interventions for greater impact.
  • Develop RFP, PON and other solicitations documents, to ensure program objectives are likely to be met. Ensure programs align with the requirements from the funding source and have funds available in approved budgets
  • Contribute to a team culture of openness and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with NYSERDA staff in Albany, Buffalo and NYC.
