Greater Flint Health Coalition (GFHC) is a non-profit, collective impact organization. The GFHC functions as a neutral convener of numerous multi-sector coalitions as well as the operator of a portfolio of community-based programs focused on improving health status, increasing healthcare access and innovation, and addressing chronic disease, social determinants of health, health disparities, and a variety of emerging public health issues. The full-time Project Manager will support the Senior Program Director with efforts related to the development, implementation, and management of the Greater Flint Health Coalition’s community impact programs. The Project Manager will support multi-sector coalition partner and community member engagement, support committee convening activities and functions, track and manage program performance data, and advance the mission of the GFHC. Initial project activities for the Project Manager will include the Genesee County Quick Response Team; Reach, Inspire, Serve, and Empower initiative; Recovery Capital Collaborative; and multiple efforts within GFHC’s Community-Wide Strategy to Address the Opioid Epidemic and Other Emerging Substance Use Trends. As a full-time Project Manager, this exciting position and your specific projects, tasks, and responsibilities will evolve over time. Daily responsibilities will include workplan management, data compilation and analysis, problem solving, development of communication materials, community outreach, and program documentation. Flexibility and a commitment to continuous learning will be required of the successful candidate. A skill set based in substance abuse prevention, public health, social work, community engagement, and program implementation will be vital to this work to improve the factors that affect health via multi-sector partnership activities.

  • Assist with grant implementation including coordination of activities by participating community partner organizations.
  • Collect and analyze data to inform community needs and project outcomes; assist with planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs; prepare reports and share best practices with multi-sector stakeholders.
  • Participate in community-wide distribution efforts to promote education and awareness of substance use prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction resources.
  • Assist with the planning, support, management, and execution of committees, task forces, and community substance use prevention education projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams composed of practice and hospital partners, health care providers, physicians, insurers, family groups, social service agencies, and the community at-large.
  • Provide committee and task force staffing, ensuring responsiveness to partner requirements, inputs, and concerns. Collaborative processes include timely material preparation, agenda development, minutes, program/grant development, workplan execution, and the completion of required committee follow up resulting from consensus decision making.
  • Support the management of project timelines, activities, documentation, and deliverables in alignment with multi-sector partner objectives and grant / project workplan requirements.
  • Assist with the development of proposals in response to identified grant opportunities supporting the activities and initiatives of the organization’s business plan.
  • Support the mission, vision, values and key strategies of the Greater Flint Health Coalition and development of collaborative relationships with the organizations that interface with the program.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in health or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience and passion for substance abuse prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction approaches.
  • Experience with public health programs, with an emphasis on those that address broad factors that affect the health of residents and seek to build alignment amongst multi-sector organizations in a collaborative, team-oriented style.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively within structured and time sensitive environments.
  • Experience creating and managing work plans and time-sensitive deliverables and deadlines.
  • Characteristics required for thinking strategically, innovating, and engaging multi-sector stakeholders in a manner that builds alignment and creates measurable improvement in project metrics.
  • Ability to integrate a diverse skill set (technical, analytical, theory, research, relationship building) to improve desired program outcomes.
  • Mastery of computer/software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a comfort speaking publicly and an ability to present oneself in a courteous, tactful, and professional manner.
  • Considerate, attentive, and punctual.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and to work proactively, both independently and in teams; excels in an open office environment.
  • Great passion for the mission, vision, and values of the Greater Flint Health Coalition and able to promote both internally and externally.
  • Motivated, self-starter not seeking “just a job”.
  • Experience implementing strategies utilizing the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) is strongly preferred.
