About The Position

This posting represents three levels within the Project Manager – Major Projects job family (Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, and Senior Project Manager). The level at which the successful candidate is hired will be determined based on their experience, education, qualifications, and demonstrated competencies. Project Manager is accountable for all aspects of project life cycle management, including accurate budgeting and forecasting, combined with effective planning and execution for designated projects within the Generation and Transmission Major Projects organization. Projects managed by this organization typically range from ~$5M to $500M in total spend. This team performs large and complex projects or engineering studies for NIPSCO which includes projects supporting electric generation, electric transmission, environmental remediation, and other scopes of work of larger size or with higher complexity. Projects are typically first of their kind for NIPSCO and almost always multi-year. The Project Manager requires proactive leadership to integrate and collaborate with both internal and external project stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and 5+ years of heavy industrial PM work experience
  • Entry-level to developing experience supporting project management activities
  • Basic knowledge of project management principles, tools, and methodologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and quality outcomes
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as required
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and 7+ years of heavy industrial PM work experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant Project Management experience with demonstrated increased responsibility
  • Proven experience independently managing medium to large, complex projects
  • Demonstrated experience with estimating, scheduling, cost control, and contractor oversight
  • Working knowledge of permitting, procurement, and construction management processes
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and 9+ years of heavy industrial PM work experience
  • 7+ years of relevant Project Management Experience in the industrial industry
  • Extensive experience leading large-scale, highly complex, high-risk, or high-visibility projects
  • Demonstrated leadership of project teams and complex stakeholder environments
  • Advanced proficiency in project controls, cost management, risk management, and performance reporting tools
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and conflict management skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and organizational objectives

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control, and transition projects to customers to ensure project objectives are achieved
  • Integrate project scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, procurement, and human resource management to deliver successful project outcomes
  • Apply quality and risk management processes to ensure customer satisfaction and delivery of project objectives
  • Manage projects in accordance with industry best practices, organizational process assets, and Project Management Guidelines and Standards
  • Apply project governance to ensure safety and environmental objectives are achieved
  • Effectively engage and manage internal and external project stakeholders using structured communication strategies
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery
  • Employ project integration processes to support effective project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and control
  • Integrate product life-cycle components with non-product objectives such as safety, cost, schedule, and human resources
  • Apply cost and schedule management fundamentals to support project delivery
  • Utilize NIPSCO risk management and human resource tools to support project teams and contractor performance
  • Support stakeholder engagement and issue resolution activities
  • Manage planning, estimating, permitting, scheduling, risk analysis, procurement, and contractor coordination
  • Prepare projects for bid, support contractor selection, and oversee field construction through close-out
  • Establish and control scope, schedule, and cost baselines, including change management
  • Ensure construction activities comply with applicable policies, practices, codes, and standards
  • Monitor project financial performance and capital spend
  • Direct and manage project teams and complex stakeholder environments
  • Integrate product life-cycle components with non-product objectives across highly complex projects
  • Employ advanced proficiency in leadership, management, organizational theory, and situational leadership
  • Utilize PMIS, scheduling, risk, cost management tools, dashboards, and performance metrics
  • Lead delivery of complex, high-risk, or high-visibility projects in alignment with organizational objectives
