About The Position

The Project Manager - Life Sciences is responsible for proactive and successful leadership of each of their project teams. This role provides leadership and direction to all project stakeholders, which include the client, design team, consultants, office staff, and field staff. The Project Manager works in conjunction with their field team to ensure the contract requirements are being met for each project. Responsibilities also include management of the contract budget, schedule, quality control, and safety. Experience in the construction of Pharma / Biotech facilities is highly preferred. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervision and development of project engineers and assistant project managers as required. May also include project coordinators, admin or interns.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, construction management or a related field AND 5+ years of relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Hands-on experience supervising trade construction activities.
  • Experience in project scheduling creating a schedule from start to finish.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with construction project accounting fundamentals.
  • OSHA-30 Certification required.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a leader of projects and a team player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead meetings, coordinate across teams, and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risk and develop proactive solutions.
  • Highly self-motivated with strong time management skills, capable of leading multiple project phases simultaneously.
  • Ability to apply working knowledge of contract terms and project financials to support cost control and client alignment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with strong overall computer skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling software.
  • Collaborative approach to working with superintendents, PMs, architects, engineers, and corporate services teams.
  • Manages emotions under pressure and helps resolve conflicts through clear, respectful communication.
  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Exposure to all outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, precipitation, and wind.
  • Use of safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Exposure to high noise levels typical of job sites.
  • Occasional travel to job sites required, at a minimum of once per month.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences industry preferred.
  • Estimating and buy out experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of project performanceincluding budget, schedule, scope, safety, and qualityto ensure successful delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain construction schedule as well as management to ensure adequate office and field resources are available as needed.
  • Collaborate with the estimating and marketing teams to develop project pricing, proposals, schedules, and subcontractor buyout strategies during the design and pre-award phases.
  • Review plans and specifications to identify conflicts or missing information and coordinate with the client and design team for resolution and clarification.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams, proactively managing communication and expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in regular site visits to evaluate progress, safety, and quality, collaborating with superintendents to ensure field execution aligns with project plan.
  • Track financial health of the project, including forecasting, profitability, pay applications, and monthly reporting, while ensuring timely and accurate use of project management systems.
  • Respond to requests for proposals, prepare and price change orders, manage scope modifications, and ensure timely integration into project documentation, budget, and schedule.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and manage subcontractor and supplier proposals, while maintaining a vendor database tailored to project locations and needs.
  • Keep accurate project files, lead progress meetings, issue meeting minutes, and manage project closeout and warranty processes.
