About The Position

The Project Manager III</b> will support the Texas Health and Human Services Commission on project engagement. This role is responsible for planning, budgeting, overseeing, and documenting all aspects of assigned projects within the agency. The Project Manager 3 relies on extensive experience and sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals, independently performing a wide variety of complex tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected in this role. The position requires strong leadership and communication skills to manage multi -million dollar software and IT initiatives across large organizations.

Requirements

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • 10 years of experience managing projects with implementations across large organizations, including developing and managing project plans and documenting risks, issues, and contingency plans.
  • 10 years of demonstrated ability to research, gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts; devise solutions to problems; and prepare concise reports or analyze and solve complex and difficult problems.
  • 10 years of experience overseeing the development of SDLC artifacts, ensuring business requirements are translated into technical specifications, and guiding and facilitating the SDLC process.
  • 10 years of experience developing and maintaining strong relationships with multiple project sponsors and stakeholders, with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • 10 years of demonstrated ability to appropriately summarize and escalate issues, develop and present weekly status updates, and conduct regular project team meetings.
  • 10 years of demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, fast -paced environment.
  • 10 years of demonstrated strong analytical and problem -solving skills.
  • 8 years of experience with Agile methodology, overseeing and tracking development progress, and ensuring project assignments align with project timelines.
  • 8 years of Agile experience managing projects with feature -driven sprints.
  • 8 years of experience leading and driving multi -million dollar software and IT projects.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required and must be noted on the resume; proof of certification may be requested.
  • May be subject to a background screening in accordance with Texas Health and Human Services Commission policies.
  • May be required to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as requested.
  • Candidates must be local to the Austin, Texas area; this position is open to local candidates only.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience implementing and using Agile methodologies and best practices for 1 or more State of Texas agencies.
  • 1 year of prior experience in healthcare or public health.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and maintain comprehensive project plans, including documentation of risks, issues, and contingency plans across large organizational implementations.
  • Oversee the development of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) artifacts, ensuring business requirements are accurately translated into technical specifications.
  • Guide and facilitate the SDLC process from initiation through completion, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with multiple project sponsors and stakeholders through consistent communication and professional presentations.
  • Prepare and deliver weekly status updates, escalate issues appropriately, and conduct regular project team meetings.
  • Lead and drive multi -million dollar software and IT projects, ensuring assignments remain aligned with project schedules and deliverables.
  • Oversee and track Agile development progress, managing the project through feature -driven sprints.
  • Research, gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts to devise solutions and prepare concise reports addressing complex and difficult problems.
  • Operate effectively in a collaborative, fast -paced environment, applying strong analytical and problem -solving skills.
  • Apply Agile methodologies and best practices to ensure iterative progress and continuous delivery of project objectives.
