About The Position

Liberty University is seeking dynamic and skilled Project Managers (Levels I–IV) to support the planning, coordination, and execution of campus construction and renovation projects. Project Managers contribute directly to Liberty’s mission by ensuring campus facilities are designed, built, and maintained with excellence in quality, safety, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with university values. This role may manage small-scale improvements or large capital initiatives exceeding $100M, depending on level. Project Managers are responsible for full project lifecycle management—from initial planning and procurement to construction oversight and closeout.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field)
  • 8–12+ years Leads large capital projects ($10M–$50M+)
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent time management, reporting, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, project management, and construction software
  • Proficiency in reading construction documents (blueprints, specs, etc.)
  • Familiarity with permitting, codes, inspections, and industry standards
  • Knowledge of PM systems such as Procore, CMMS, and Bluebeam
  • Ability to assess project issues and develop timely, effective solutions
  • Sound judgment in managing budgets, schedules, and contractor performance
  • Regularly required to travel to local on and off-campus locations.
  • Ability to access and navigate active construction sites, including climbing ladders and scaffolding.
  • May be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Required to stand, walk, bend, and lift materials and climb stairs to move about the campus.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly carry and lift up to 50+ pounds.
  • Employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel.
  • Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older and have held a valid driver’s license for at least 5 years if you are a U.S. citizen, or 7 years if you are an international citizen and become a LU approved driver.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP, CCM, or LEED AP preferred
  • Experience with civil and site work preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage or support multiple projects from concept through closeout
  • Develop scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and phasing plans in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Coordinate with design professionals, engineers, contractors, and consultants
  • Conduct routine job site visits and inspections to ensure safety, quality, and progress
  • Administer and track project documentation: RFIs, submittals, pay apps, contracts, and change orders
  • Ensure projects comply with LU standards, building codes, ADA, and environmental/safety regulations
  • Serve as liaison between university departments, users, and external project partners
  • Use project management tools such as Procore, CMMS, and Bluebeam for tracking and reporting
  • Identify project risks and recommend proactive mitigation strategies
  • Promote sustainability and energy-efficient design where applicable
  • Participate in post-project evaluations and process improvement efforts
  • Support or lead stakeholder engagement depending on level of responsibility
  • May supervise, mentor, or coordinate tasks with other staff, depending on experience level and project scope
  • Upper-level Project Managers may lead large project teams and oversee external consultants, contractors, and departments
  • Perform other duties as assigned
