This position is responsible for working autonomously, developing and implementing the planning, management, and execution of multiple concurrent interrelated complex projects whose combined success is critical to the organization’s overall strategic objectives and initiatives. This includes the development of recommendations for the prioritization of individual singular projects comprising overall major project(s). The incumbent must facilitate and foster collaboration, both horizontally and vertically within the organization, including across diverse areas and multiple states, to facilitate the implementation of business solutions, serving as the primary interface between executive project sponsors and the project team. Serves as a subject matter expert on the utilization of project management tools and methodology, ensuring an integrated approach resulting in the successful implementation of projects; provides coaching in effective project management methodologies and behaviors, ranging from routine to advanced. The role involves managing business sponsor relationships, navigating political landscapes, and leading cross-functional teams while influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders. It contributes to the continuous improvement of the project management lifecycle methodology, participates in formulating design and direction of project management standards, and mentors less experienced project managers. The Project Manager III oversees major projects comprised of multiple, interdependent projects/programs, coordinating dependencies to realize collective benefits. They consult with executive sponsors to define project goals, time frames, funding, and resources, leading teams to establish project charters, budgets, and obtaining skilled resources. They are directly accountable for project success, including related subset projects. The role involves planning and executing complex, ambiguous, interrelated projects, prioritizing subsets, and using tools like work breakdown structures or user stories to develop integrated work plans, issues, risk, communication, and change management plans. They serve as the primary liaison between executive sponsors and project teams, facilitating meetings and making presentations to senior management. They manage project-level communication plans, build team cohesiveness, and control multiple interrelated projects to successful completion, providing leadership, ensuring alignment with objectives, and administering change management processes. They proactively identify and manage risks, serve as the first level of escalation, and manage overall project budgets, delegating activities to less junior project managers. This position coordinates complex and ambiguous projects involving multiple teams towards large-scale, multi-facility, high-risk, large-budget functional projects across numerous departments system-wide. Incumbents serve as a point of escalation for less experienced project management staff, providing guidance and problem-solving for complex project management issues. They interface with executive project sponsors regularly and manage horizontal and vertical internal collaboration efforts, evaluating and managing change to meet business objectives.
