About The Position

The Project Manager II – Project Controls is responsible for driving financial discipline, forecasting accuracy across a portfolio of active projects. This role serves as a key partner to the Project Management team by providing oversight of project financial performance, revenue recognition, and reporting accuracy to ensure predictable and compliant business outcomes. This position does not directly manage project execution in the field but instead focuses on reviewing and analyzing project financials, validating forecast integrity, and ensuring alignment with company financial policies and objectives. The Project Manager II – Project Controls plays a critical role in strengthening financial acumen within the Project Management organization by providing guidance, identifying risks and opportunities, and driving consistency in financial reporting practices. The role includes ownership of project financial reviews, Accounts Receivable monitoring, and resolution of financial exceptions, while partnering cross-functionally with Accounting and Shared Services to support accurate revenue recognition and overall project financial health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in project cost controls
  • Strong financial acumen with proven ability to analyze project financials, forecasts, and variances
  • Working knowledge of revenue recognition in a project-based environment
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working within ERP systems
  • Ability to interpret data and translate it into clear, actionable insights
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills
  • High attention to detail with strong accuracy in financial review
  • Ability to influence and guide others without direct authority
  • Strong communication skills, especially in explaining financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Accounting, Finance, and Operations

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze project financials across the active portfolio, including revenue, cost, margin, and forecast accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards and company financial policies
  • Validate and challenge project forecasts to drive accuracy, consistency, and predictability of financial outcomes
  • Provide guidance and support to Project Managers on financial reporting, cost management, and revenue recognition practices
  • Partner with Accounting and Finance to ensure alignment between project execution and financial reporting requirements
  • Monitor Accounts Receivable (AR) reporting and work with Project Managers to drive timely collection and resolution of outstanding balances
  • Review, monitor, and drive resolution of CIEB and NETC reports to ensure accuracy and timely closure of financial items
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities within the project portfolio and communicate insights to leadership and stakeholders
  • Support month-end and quarter-end financial processes by ensuring project data is accurate, complete, and aligned with reporting timelines
  • Establish and reinforce standardized financial reporting practices across the Project Management team
  • Provide portfolio-level financial visibility and reporting to support leadership decision-making
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives focused on financial processes, reporting efficiency, and data accuracy
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in project financial management, supporting training and development of the Project Management team
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve financial discrepancies and improve end-to-end project financial performance
  • Provide portfolio-level financial visibility and reporting to support leadership decision-making
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives focused on financial processes, reporting efficiency, and data accuracy
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in project financial management, supporting training and development of the Project Management team
