About The Position

The Project Manager II position at the City of Boston's Public Facilities Department involves overseeing construction projects for city-owned buildings. This role is crucial for managing the entire lifecycle of projects, from funding initiation to completion, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Requirements

• At least five (5) years of experience in building construction management, engineering, or architecture.
• A minimum of four (4) years of experience in management, budgeting, and scheduling of building construction projects is preferred.
• Knowledge of construction, contract practices, and knowledge of MA Building Code, general/subcontractor relations, trade customs, MA construction statutes, Chapter 149, and regulations preferred.
• Experience working with permitting and oversight agencies preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills are preferred.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management is preferred.
• Engineering or Architectural registration is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Managing design and construction budgets, schedules, and quality.
• Managing architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and their contracts.
• Supervising Clerk of the Works.

• Working with user departments and constituents.
• Maintaining project documentation and files.
• Assisting the division in improving policies and procedures.
• Performing related work as required.
