About The Position

The City of Asheville is seeking a Project Manager II for the Public Facilities Management Division within the Capital Management Department. This role focuses on overseeing facility improvement projects, including the management of repairs, renovations, and aesthetic enhancements to city-owned facilities, ensuring they meet community needs and standards.

Requirements

  • 3 years of applicable experience in facilities specific project management, and a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or Project/Construction Management.
  • 5+ years of applicable experience in facilities specific project management experience and a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Valid driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional licensure as a registered architect or engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project planning, design, construction, and contract administration efforts for renovation, repair, or new construction projects.
  • Partner with the facility maintenance team to identify, prioritize, and plan capital maintenance and repair projects.
  • Coordinate with client departments to determine the scope of improvements for city facilities.
  • Manage project budgets, costs, and schedules while ensuring effective communication with cross-functional project teams.
  • Maintain service delivery or mitigate interruptions during renovations in occupied spaces.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with other City staff members, contractors, and architectural and engineering professionals.
  • Ensure adherence to City standards and regulations throughout project development and construction.
  • Provide leadership for a variety of projects, with the potential to manage new construction projects based on qualifications and department needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
