About The Position

PAR Electric is seeking an experienced Project Manager II – Substation to lead and manage complex substation construction projects across the region. This role is responsible for overseeing all phases of project execution—from planning and budgeting through construction, closeout, and client satisfaction. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, technical knowledge of substation systems, and proven experience managing utility-scale projects safely, on time, and within budget. This position is based in Denver, Colorado, with occasional travel to project sites as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-5 years of project management experience within the electrical utility or power delivery industry
  • Demonstrated experience managing substation construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of substation equipment, construction methods, and industry standards
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and teams on large-scale projects
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and client satisfaction

Nice To Haves

  • PMP certification or equivalent is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, scheduling, and execution of drilling and foundation projects supporting substation construction.
  • Coordinate project logistics, including equipment mobilization, material procurement, and subcontractor management.
  • Support project documentation efforts such as RFIs, change orders, submittals, and daily reports.
  • Track labor, equipment, and material costs to maintain budgetary control and accurate reporting.
  • Conduct routine job site visits to observe work progress, verify safety compliance, and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Communicate effectively with field crews, engineers, and clients to resolve operational challenges.
  • Prepare and maintain project schedules, cost forecasts, and progress reports for leadership review.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Department to reinforce PAR Electric’s zero-injury culture and compliance with company and OSHA standards.
  • Participate in project closeout activities, ensuring documentation accuracy and lessons learned are captured for future improvement
