About The Position

GCI's Project Manager I is responsible for leading multiple concurrent projects to completion by following project management methodology to initiate, plan, execute, control, test, report, and close out projects to specifications within deadlines and budget. Project responsibilities include reviewing project requirements, design documents, business validation, and post-launch support. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AT ALL LEVELS: Manage personnel resources within all internal engineering groups, consultants, and contractors. Work across multiple department lines, identifying resources needed both internally and externally, engaging professional design and engineering services, and general contractors. Develop and maintain project budgets and project schedules to include traditional Gantt and PET charts, etc. Validate project requirements, design documents, prepare and submit capital plan approvals, prepare project bid information. Ensure project documentation is current, accurate, and complete. Support and define project scopes with internal and external customers and oversee and participate in procurement of services and materials to include FFE. Cost Control – critical: ensure project delivery is within cost constraints and manage project finances intelligently. Manage project scheduling to meet deadlines. Meeting Management: successfully plan, schedule, facilitate, keep discussions on course, and ensure that meetings achieve the desired outcomes. Project Recovery. RELIABILITY - Consistently follows through on assigned tasks as expected; demonstrates timely attendance at meetings, training, and other work obligations. RESULTS - Uses a combination of job knowledge, initiative, sound decision making, innovation, adaptability, and problem solving. Ability to lead, manage, and inspire a team and set the vision effectively. Utilize interpersonal skills to guide, direct, and influence others to achieve results. Demonstrated Risk, Contract, Quality, and Task Management. SAFETY & SECURITY - Supports a safe work environment by following all workplace safety rules and guidelines; complies with applicable Security policies and procedures. Proficient computer skills and MS Office knowledge (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) to complete job duties effectively, such as using the company intranet and to accurately retrieve and input information into database or equivalent. Additional Job Requirements: This is an entry level position requiring close supervision, guidance, and collaboration with more senior Project Managers. This position will support Project Managers in implementing moderate to more complex projects and participate in developing and maintaining budgets and scope.

Requirements

  • A combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, industrial management, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in relevant field; to include project management, developing project budgets and schedules.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, a satisfactory driving record, and successfully complete Defensive Driving course.
  • Must be able to drive when in remote communities and operate ATV-style vehicles if necessary.
  • Ability to work shifts as assigned, work in standard office/home office setting, and operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to accurately communicate information and ideas to others effectively.
  • Physical agility and effort sufficient to perform job duties safely and effectively.
  • Ability to make valid judgments and decisions.
  • Available to work additional time on weekends, holidays, before or after normal work hours when necessary.
  • Must work well in a team environment and be able to work with a diverse group of people and customers.
  • Virtual workers must comply with remote work policies and agreement.
  • Participation in a DOT or non-DOT drug and alcohol testing program may be required to satisfy conditions of a contract or proposed contract with a business partner or client.
