About The Position

The Department of Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Manager to lead and oversee various global health projects within our organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in project management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and Lean Six Sigma. This role requires exceptional leadership abilities, effective communication skills, and a keen understanding of project management lifecycle processes. The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget while maintaining high-quality standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or greater preferred, or combination of applicable work experience and education
  • 3+ years of relevant experience with Masters degree; 5+ years with Bachelors degree
  • Prior project management – specific experience in Global Health from an Industry standpoint, such as working with multinational health organizations, global health initiatives, or health programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the board’s strategic direction: work closely with the board to help develop and implement the organization's strategic direction.
  • Provide research and analysis to help inform the board's decision-making, as well as support the implementation of the board's decisions.
  • Liaison between the Board/Subcommittees and International Surgical Center Projects/Mount Sinai.
  • Provide background knowledge and assistance as requested by members.
  • Work with lawyers and accountants to ensure board compliance; obtain necessary copyrights/trademarks, acquire D&O insurance, ensure timely tax filing.
  • Draft and provide cultural humility sessions to all global health related travelers (with Director of Global Surgery)
  • Site visits as needed to ensure resident program running smoothly
  • Help with Visas, accommodations, etc of traveling students, trainees, and surgeons.
  • Assist with all global health related grants and conference presentations.
  • Manage relationship with Mount Sinai’s Office of Global Operations.
  • Work with finance to pay vendors, provide student/trainee/surgeon travel reimbursements/stipends
  • Ensure that program activities are carried out in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Receive and store donated equipment—must be able to lift 30 lb boxes.
  • Liaison between International Surgical Centers and Mount Sinai; Collaborate with centers to support their daily operations and long-term vision of the growth of the center.
  • Responsible for knowing everything that is happening in each Center, in order to guide Mount Sinai personnel engagement and create synergistic relationships between international centers and Mount Sinai departments.
  • Liaison between International Surgical Center and stakeholders in different time zones.
  • Implement collaborative ecosystem for real time clinical support—hololens, zoom—and act as IT support during the live procedures.
  • First point of contact for International Surgical Center when in need for equipment, additional consultant services, etc.
  • Work with the Director of Global Surgery to identify students for research year/summers.
  • Vet venders to see if worthwhile and if so, pass along to relevant stakeholders (ie Surgeon in Chief of Mount Sinai)
  • Ensure safe transportation of equipment to locations, as well as compliance with international customs.
  • Ensuring ongoing relationship with pathology department is smooth
  • Schedule and create slides for meetings between the radiology departments.
  • Responsible for moving mountains when things seem impossible—for example acquiring the hololens, storing/shipping the simulators, getting staff VISAs for US/International travel, navigating any additional potential international policies or restrictions.
  • Responsible for working with marketing partners to create International Surgery Center Website (when the time is right)
