About The Position

The Project Manager position at the World Bank Group is a critical role within the Global Corporate Solutions and Corporate Real Estate division. This position is responsible for managing the implementation of base building capital improvement projects from inception to completion, ensuring that projects align with the organization's mission to create a world free of poverty on a livable planet. The Project Manager will report to the Team Lead, Project Management in the GCSHQ Real Estate Development and Management section, based in Washington, DC. The role involves overseeing projects with a budget of approximately $10 million, coordinating with various internal units, and ensuring projects are completed in a sustainable manner.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with at least 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in Architecture, Planning, Interior/Urban Design, Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 2 years in a project management role.
  • Ability to conceptualize, design & implement capital improvement projects.
  • 5+ years' experience in space studies, design, and construction document preparation.
  • Knowledge of architectural principles, building methods, and construction methods.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing previous project management expertise.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Attention to detail and ability to ensure quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Suite, AutoCAD or applicable design tools.
  • Thorough understanding of construction contracts and framework agreements.
  • Certification with organizations such as PMI or NCIDQ.

Responsibilities

  • Manage capital, overhead and move projects of approximately $10 million.
  • Determine the scope of the project and required resources, mobilizing them from within/outside the Bank.
  • Develop initial estimates on structure costs, building time, and special requirements.
  • Demonstrate excellent client management skills and incorporate institutional priorities.
  • Develop project-specific proposals in coordination with Building Managers and WBG internal units.
  • Create and monitor the project budget and schedule, taking corrective action as needed.
  • Support the selection of design consultants and contractors, coordinating implementation activities.
  • Manage the preparation of design concepts, construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Coordinate with other Project Managers to maintain a consistent approach to project delivery.
  • Work with Building Engineers to ensure proper design and execution of projects.
  • Analyze needs, identify potential issues, and develop optimal solutions.
  • Lead the planning, design, and construction process, documenting lessons learned.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Responsibility Team to implement sustainable projects.
  • Approve invoices from vendors/contractors and prepare documentation for payments.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation and provide progress updates to stakeholders.
  • Oversee post-occupancy activities and ensure timely project completion.
