The Project Manager for National Security applications will work in the Advanced Technology Laboratory of Applied Research Laboratories. The role involves managing projects related to national security, including developing project documentation, coordinating with sponsors and staff, maintaining schedules and budgets, and executing research and testing activities.

  • Develop project documentation and systems engineering artifacts.
  • Project coordination with sponsors, development staff, and campus departments.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Plan and execute research, development, evaluation, and testing activities.
  • Develop system concepts and proposals.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Three years or more experience in related engineering, military, policy, legal, or other related field.
  • Three years or more experience in project or program management.
  • Significant experience in military applications or direct military experience.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to conduct strategic planning and coordinate issue resolution within military or government channels.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Dynamic skill set, willing to work with new technologies, highly organized, capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and with sensitive information, maintain a professional demeanor, and communicate effectively.
  • Prior military experience at a leadership level.
  • Experience working with law enforcement, intelligence community, or lawmakers.
  • Experience in electrical, software, or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with model-based system architecture or model-based systems engineering.
  • Experience acting as a technical lead or in project management.
  • Understanding of software engineering processes and standards.
  • Experience in field testing or acting as a test director.
  • Experience with top-down design of systems.
  • Experience in circuit board design, production, debugging and testing.
  • Knowledge in programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, XML, Qt, .NET.
  • Knowledge in areas like acoustics, signal processing, detection theory, pattern recognition, and image processing.
  • Experience developing software in Linux or in an embedded environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Military background or experience working with military customers.
  • Knowledge of diving/diving systems, facilities modification processes, cyber-security processes, and force protection.
