About The Position

Catholic Cemeteries of Columbus is a dedicated Catholic cemetery committed to providing a sacred and respectful final resting place for the faithful. Under the supervision of the Office Administrator and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Memorialization Coordinator is responsible for leading and managing the lifecycle of memorialization products (e.g., niche and crypt plates, grave markers and monuments, personal columbaria, and cremation and memorial benches) purchased and sold by the Cemeteries. This role involves strategic planning, customer relationship management, and ensuring that all sales activities align with the mission and values of the Cemetery. The position is expected to use personal judgment in carrying out routine duties and responsibilities. All the duties and standards within this job description will be performed according to the established policies, procedures and guidelines outlined in the Cemetery and Diocesan policy and procedures manuals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of related experience, preferably in the cemetery or funeral industry.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Deep understanding and respect for Catholic teachings and traditions.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and respectful service.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Compliance with BCI&I background checks and completion of Protecting God's Children program.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a Catholic or religious setting is a plus.
  • Fluent in Spanish, ideal but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support of the Church and the Diocese’s spiritual and pastoral mission.
  • Set an example for employees by personal adherence to and compliance with personnel policies and procedures and by personal adherence to Catholic Doctrine and Catholic principles of morality.
  • Manage an organized process for the selection, design, approval, ordering and tracking of all memorialization products sold by the Cemetery staff.
  • Following established process, the Memorialization Coordinator shall be responsible for the review and approval of all memorialization products before being ordered (Memorialization Coordinator responsible for ordering granite products; Family Services Advisor responsible for ordering bronze name plates in front of families).
  • Memorialization coordinator also responsible for tracking and sending out all name plates and DOD scrolls.
  • Maintain a detailed record of all memorialization products planned or sold by Cemetery staff and all products purchased from outside dealers for installation in the Cemeteries; this record will be maintained using Cemetery software, memorialization product vendor(s) software, and spreadsheets, when necessary.
  • Maintain, and update as necessary, thorough guidelines on marker/monument requirements on symbols, wording, etc.; these guidelines may exist as stand-alone documents or incorporated into the Cemeteries’ rules and regulations.
  • Monitor, and update as necessary, a checklist for the review, acceptance, and storage by Cemetery staff of memorialization products delivered to the Cemeteries.
  • Maintain a detailed record of the status of payment (e.g., paid-in-full or paid-in-half) of purchased memorialization products, which staff shall use to determine when or if memorialization products will be installed on Cemetery grounds.
  • Assist with the development and monitoring of a process to ensure the timely installation of foundations for memorialization products; work alongside grounds crew for reference and organization on foundations, installation, etc.
  • Assists Director with various projects as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Future cross training with the Office Administrator as needed.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for this job.
  • Potential for Saturday rotations (8am-12noon) when necessary.
  • Holiday hours are to be expected.
