About The Position

Beaver Constructors Inc. is looking for a Masonry Project Manager/Estimator who is responsible for all aspects of planning and execution of assigned projects. This position works closely with superintendents, owners, engineers, and construction managers. In addition, this role supervises and trains project management team members. This role advocates a teamwork approach and keeps the lines of communication open to ensure the best possible outcome for the customer. Masonry takeoff and estimating is priority. This includes the ability to read and understand construction documents, review plans/specs/RFPs, perform detailed quantity takeoffs, prepare accurate masonry estimates, and develop competitive bids.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand construction documents
  • Ability to review plans, specs, and RFPs for masonry projects
  • Ability to perform estimating, detailed take‑off, and scheduling functions
  • Ability to take off masonry and estimate
  • Ability to solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes and develop competitive bids
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and estimating software
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of industry practices and the impacts of project activities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong leadership skills and complex problem-solving skills as it relates to customers, equipment, personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, governmental agencies, etc.
  • Competent use of MS Office and construction software skills
  • Demonstrates respect for coworkers and customers
  • Ability to take off masonry and estimate
  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight as required by project needs
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering; equivalent degree or field experience will be considered
  • 5 years’ experience in the construction industry required

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in ensuring job site safety according to Beaver safety policies
  • Runs ‘Pre-Job’, ‘Mid-Job’, and ‘Post-Job’ meetings
  • Communicates production goals clearly to field supervision
  • Manages multiple projects at one time
  • Develops and communicates project schedule
  • Ensures that the activities of subcontractors and suppliers are monitored, completed appropriately, and are understood by job site Superintendents and Foreman
  • Ensures that subcontracts and purchase orders are completed correctly with all pertinent information and submitted in a timely fashion
  • Provides mentorship to subcontractors to meet project goals and requirements
  • Communicates with owners and their representatives regarding budgets, schedules, and change management in a professional manner, ensuring a long-term relationship
  • Leads project reviews and problem resolution with owners, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Responds timely to customer's needs without compromising safety, quality, or reputation
  • Maintains project quality and conformance to drawings and specifications
  • Seeks to meet project DBE, MBE, and EEO requirements
  • Informs customers of the Beaver Companies’ abilities and areas of expertise
  • Maintains a vision of value engineering and actively pursues implementation within the project
  • Proactively looks ahead to identify and avoid potential challenges
  • Maintains full awareness of all current project conditions and issues, including union, environment, geotechnical, government regulations and permits, materials supply, subcontractors, and schedules
  • Coordinates with field supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Schedules and manages resources to keep masonry work on time
  • Conducts jobsite visits to monitor masonry progress, quality, and safety
  • Coordinates project close-out and ensures completion of proper documentation
  • Prepares close-out documentation and ensures masonry project compliance
  • Accurately and efficiently take off and bids projects
  • Develops pricing for RFPs, change orders, change authorizations, bulletins, etc.
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of how each project was bid and communicates efficiently with project Superintendents
  • Reviews construction drawings, specifications, and RFPs related to masonry work
  • Reads and interprets construction documents
  • Performs estimating, detailed takeoffs, and scheduling functions for masonry projects
  • Prepares detailed and accurate masonry construction estimates using industry‑standard software
  • Possesses conceptual estimating ability to understand project requirements with limited information (Design/Build)
  • Performs detailed quantity takeoffs for masonry scopes of work
  • Solicits and evaluates subcontractor and supplier quotes
  • Develops competitive bids, cost estimates, schedules, and value‑engineering options
  • Prepares and presents proposals to leadership and clients
  • Ensures all masonry estimates include accurate quantities, production rates, and evaluated quotes
  • Identifies and manages project scope changes
  • Coordinates job set-up, cost codes, and reporting project costs
  • Manages project payment applications
  • Tracks quantities to update project revenues
  • Directs pre-job planning, turnover, lessons learned, etc.
  • Manages project claims and change orders
  • Takes the lead to address and solve issues that impact safety, job costs, production, quality, and profitability
  • Manages budgets, cost tracking, change orders, and billing for masonry scopes
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships both publicly and professionally in and outside of the workplace
  • Weighs-in on performance reviews for assigned personnel when necessary
  • Maintains strong relationships with clients, inspectors, and stakeholders related to masonry work
