PBS SoCal is looking for a Project Manager to join our organization. A donor-supported community institution, PBS SoCal sparks the sharing of ideas at in-person cultural events and community conversations as well as delivers social impact through services that prepare our most vulnerable children for school. The Project Manager, Early Learning supports PBS SoCal’s Early Learning initiatives by managing the planning, coordination, and execution of educational projects and programs. Reporting to the Senior Director of Early Learning, this role oversees multiple projects across local, state, and national initiatives that engage children, families, and educators. The Project Manager is responsible for managing the full project lifecycle—from planning and stakeholder coordination to implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. The role works closely with internal departments, community organizations, and educational partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, aligned with grant requirements, and reflective of PBS SoCal’s mission. In addition, this role represents PBS SoCal’s Early Learning work externally through presentations, conferences, and collaborative initiatives with families, educators, and community partners. The Project Manager, Early Learning must regularly use independence and discretion in the execution of duties with limited supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Project Management, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in education, nonprofit organizations, or programs serving children and families.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from planning through completion.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience coordinating with internal teams and external partners or stakeholders.
  • Ability to track results, analyze information, and communicate findings effectively using spreadsheets, presentations, or other tools.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills across diverse audiences.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong follow-through and accountability.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Creative, proactive, and adaptable approach to problem solving.
  • Passion for education and a commitment to creating meaningful learning opportunities for children, families, and educators.

Nice To Haves

  • Elementary or early childhood teaching experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in early childhood education, family engagement, or educator professional development.
  • Experience working with community partners, educators, or education-focused nonprofit organizations.
  • Experience presenting at conferences, professional development sessions, or community events.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and systems.
  • Experience supporting grant-funded programs or impact reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of Early Learning projects from concept through completion.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and work plans in collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with internal departments to ensure projects stay on schedule and align with organizational goals.
  • Track project progress, milestones, and deliverables, identifying and addressing challenges as they arise.
  • Ensure projects meet established timelines, quality standards, and educational objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Early Learning team and partner organizations to develop new educational resources and program offerings for families and educators.
  • Support implementation of local, state, and national early learning initiatives and partnerships.
  • Monitor project outcomes and recommend improvements to strengthen program impact.
  • Stay informed about trends and best practices in early childhood education and family engagement to inform project development.
  • Support departmental events, initiatives, and program activities as needed.
  • Serve as a key liaison with external partners, educators, and community organizations supporting Early Learning initiatives.
  • Present PBS SoCal Early Learning programs, mission, and best practices at conferences, webinars, panels, trainings, and community events.
  • Support communication and coordination with independent contractors and program collaborators.
  • Contribute to presentations, reports, and materials that communicate the impact and value of PBS SoCal’s early learning work.
  • Support documentation and tracking of grant deliverables and program outcomes.
