About The Position

This internship provides transitioning active-duty U.S. military personnel the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in project and program management within a mission-driven environment. Interns will work closely with experienced program managers, contributing to real-world projects while learning how to plan, monitor, and execute complex initiatives. The role emphasizes understanding operational processes, schedule and resource management, federal contracting, and cross-functional collaboration. Participants will gain exposure to technologies, workflows, and industry standards relevant to defense and national security operations. This immersive experience is designed to prepare interns for seamless transition into full-time project management roles.

Requirements

  • Active-duty U.S. military personnel within final 180 days of service; applications considered within final 12 months of service.
  • Experience in program/project management or related technical roles in a military context.
  • Commitment to learning industry-standard project management practices and operational procedures.
  • Secret security clearance required; TS/SCI preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and adaptability skills.
  • Willingness to engage in both remote and occasional in-person training (Hampton, VA).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, executing, and monitoring program and project activities across multiple business functions and locations.
  • Gain experience in schedule, cost, and technical performance tracking, identifying risks and proposing solutions.
  • Support program reviews, milestone tracking, and progress reporting for management teams.
  • Learn federal contracting procedures, including budget ceilings and DoD payment pathways.
  • Participate in problem-solving and resource allocation exercises to ensure efficient program operations.
  • Contribute to special projects and cross-organizational initiatives as assigned.
