The Project Engineer assists the project manager in managing multiple projects from project initiation through project close-out. Project Engineers work with and assist the project manager in delivering successful projects through a safe work environment, quality construction, cost management, collaboration with project stakeholders, with superior customer service. The ideal candidate will possess a desire for growth, long-term thinking, relationship-building skills, and a growing familiarity with the construction industry. Project Engineers are expected to collaborate with team members at all levels to establish operational priorities and ensure a quality project. They are also expected to grow and maintain positive and effective working relationships with both internal and external members of the Project Team and internal stakeholders. Leads and directs construction projects up to $10 million, with primary emphasis on projects of less than $1 million. Accountable for program development, budget, schedule, and management of project team for projects assigned. Supports the design that cares for the whole patient; mind, body and spirit. Provides input into the design and execution of projects that address the safety of patients, staff, visitors, and construction workers in keeping with IU Health's mission of promoting community wellness. Serves as a resource to entire Facilities Department providing technical knowledge and expertise in the requirements of construction management. Negotiates and manages contracts. Ensures that all construction documents and required recordkeeping is maintained appropriately.
