About The Position

EJF Real Estate Services, with a history tracing back to 1920, is a family-owned and operated business specializing in residential property management and real estate sales in the Washington DC metropolitan area for 30 years. Currently, it stands as the largest DC-based property management company, serving hundreds of clients across the DMV. The project management division offers an ancillary service to buildings managed by EJF, overseeing all capital improvement projects and managing claims against the building's master insurance policy. This role, reporting to the Director of Project Administration, involves overseeing the entire project life cycle from initiation to completion, ensuring successful delivery within defined scope, budget, and timeline. The position requires experience as an Owner Representative, specifically managing projects related to exterior facade restoration, waterproofing, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as interior renovations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (3-5 years) in project management as an Owner Representative, particularly in capital projects and mitigation and restoration projects covered by insurance.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in project management tools and software.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Degree or PMP, PMI-CP or CCM certification.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive project plans outlining scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Execute and oversee the project, ensuring adherence to established timelines and budget constraints.
  • Collaborate with community manager, site staff if applicable, contractors, and Association Boards to define project requirements and expectations.
  • Maintain effective communication channels to keep all stakeholders informed of project progress.
  • Manage all aspects of capital projects, including budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and organizational policies.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, including those related to insurance claims.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential project disruptions.
  • Implement quality assurance processes to ensure project deliverables meet or exceed established standards.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits to assess project performance.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenditures and ensuring cost control throughout the project life cycle.
  • Provide regular financial updates to relevant stakeholders.
