Under the direction of the Area Manager, the Project Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities on designated jobs to ensure that goals and/or objectives of the job are accomplished within the prescribed timeframe and funding parameters.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Civil Construction
  • 2+ years of Project Management experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, consulting, conflict resolution, and interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Self-directed, motivated and takes initiative with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Develop strong trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or vocational training certification from an accredited organization
  • Bidding experience
  • Prior transportation industry and logistics experience

Responsibilities

  • Be a leader on all work sites by wearing proper PPE and espousing the Walbec value of Safety by regularly participating in morning huddles and following safety protocols/practices
  • Run less complex general contractor work
  • Understand most specifications and know when to ask questions
  • Understand mix and Technical Services (TS) project-related issues
  • Establish relationships with subcontractors and general contractors
  • Understand difference between bid vs. quote jobs and their relevance
  • Evaluate projects for quantity over and under runs effectively and efficiently
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships
  • Evaluate productivity and efficiency of field personnel and equipment
  • Ability to read and understand standard job cost reports: Bid vs. actual, Actual cost-to-date, Job profitability report, Billing worksheet, Unbilled revenue, Accounts receivable, Daily production and cost reports
  • Site assessment of existing and new in-the-field construction: Establishment of proper grades for drainage, Soil analysis for proper aggregate thickness, Existing pavement surface evaluation
