The Project Manager, Construction Management at UPMC is responsible for overseeing construction projects within UPMC hospitals, primarily in Oakland. This role involves managing the construction process to ensure high-quality outcomes that meet user group satisfaction, while adhering to established policies and procedures. The position requires local travel within Allegheny County and operates Monday through Friday.

  • Oversee activities and performance of outside contractor forces in accomplishing contracted work.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of existing facilities and their utilization on all UPMC Hospital campuses.
  • Collaborate with construction management personnel, supply chain management personnel, outside vendors, contractors, and design professionals to assure comprehensive satisfaction of the end user for all projects assigned.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all ICRA requirements.
  • Complete all necessary/required paperwork essential for all phases of the projects in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Manage day-to-day activities related to a variety of construction projects performing all duties in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Assure that all construction activities are carried out in a safe and secure manner and that all relevant regulatory requirements are met.
  • Assure satisfactory completion of every project assigned including the completion of punch lists, phone and data installation, furniture and equipment placement, and move-in.
  • Schedule and coordinate all Department of Health inspections and certifications.
  • Maintain budget and schedule for all projects assigned.
  • Liaison with architects/engineers as required through the design and construction process.
  • B.A. degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or closely related field and three years construction project management or related experience required.
  • High School diploma and eight years experience in construction project management or related experience is required.
  • Prior healthcare/hospital experience is a plus.
  • Experience managing construction/contractors along with budgeting, scheduling, and design is preferred.
  • Registration for Architecture or Engineering preferred.
