About The Position

This role is responsible for project management and design oversight for a variety of architectural/building design and construction projects across the airport campus anticipated to exceed $1 billion in contract value over the next ten years. Major responsibilities of this position include management of consultants and contractors, design oversight, procurement support, construction monitoring and oversight, coordination of tenants, business partners and other Raleigh Durham International Airport (RDU) departments, as well as a range of other responsibilities needed to ensure the successful outcome of projects. The project manager will coordinate with planning and capital development departments to ensure program schedule aligns with available life cycle expectancy of systems, sustainability goals and regulatory and aviation growth environments. The project manager will evaluate project design drawings for moderate-sized capital and expense projects for conformance to standards and specifications and coordination with other capital projects and expansion of existing infrastructure. Projects may include concessions redevelopment in terminal buildings; oversight (design review and construction) of tenant improvements, upgrades to existing buildings’ infrastructure including building envelope, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, in addition to campus building assessments and improvements to various other support buildings associated with a fast-growing medium-hub commercial airport.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Architecture, a building engineering discipline (i.e., mechanical, electrical, structural, etc.) or related field
  • Of overall project management experience, 3+ years must be experience at a commercial service airport the size and scope of RDU with emphasis on the project types noted above

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Architect or Engineer desirable but not required
  • Project Management certification desired but not required
  • LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively and effectively with diverse groups and individuals internally and externally.
  • Convey complex and technical details to individuals with varying degrees of technical knowledge.
  • Manage multiple moderately complex projects simultaneously and prioritize work between multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Analyze and interpret technical data, reports, specifications, and engineering and architectural plans for facilities at a commercial air carrier airport
  • Prepare, evaluate, monitor, and maintain complex operating budgets and capital program budgets
  • Plan, organize and direct work on complex projects involving building infrastructure and systems; ability to promote consensus and negotiate favorable outcomes
  • Research current and future trends to establish programs for existing and new buildings
  • Create and meet schedules and deadlines of the work
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions
  • Accurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files
  • Maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries
