About The Position

Brown Federal Services is seeking a Project Manager 2 to support construction and facility projects at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This position will lead and manage projects up to $500K while supporting lab mission objectives and ensuring successful execution of scope, schedule, and budget. The Project Manager 2 will provide oversight to field teams and Superintendents as needed, while serving as a key point of contact for project controls and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in construction, engineering, or project management
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, procurement, or construction environments
  • Experience supporting DOE or nuclear projects required
  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)
  • Ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
  • Strong leadership and team management experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents
  • Strong understanding of construction safety practices, lockout/tagout, and work control systems
  • Experience identifying project risks and implementing mitigation strategies
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present to stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience serving as a Control Account Manager (CAM)
  • Experience with facility maintenance, D&D, or upgrade projects
  • Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements across construction trades
  • Experience working with computerized work management systems

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage construction projects from planning through execution
  • Provide oversight and direction to field teams and Superintendents
  • Serve as a Control Account Manager (CAM) responsible for scope, schedule, and cost performance
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and work packages
  • Perform variance analysis and implement corrective action plans
  • Conduct constructability reviews and evaluate impacts to cost and schedule
  • Investigate incidents, abnormal events, or accidents and support root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Interface with project stakeholders, federal clients, and senior leadership
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate materials, equipment, and subcontractors to maintain project progress
  • Support project reporting, including status updates, trends, and performance metrics
  • Utilize computerized work management systems to track and manage project activities
  • Promote a strong safety culture and open communication across project teams
