About The Position

The purpose of this position is to assist the Honors College as a Project Management Student Worker in charge of administrative and operational tasks. This staff member will help support the growth and development of the Honors College, and specifically, our honors student body.

Requirements

  • Must be an actively enrolled Honors College student in good academic standing
  • Strong verbal and digital/written communication skills
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Must be willing to commit to 15-20 hours/week
  • Must be able to work in 4+ hour shifts or have flexibility with hours
  • Must be able to work year-round through the summer in the state of Arizona
  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing the general office phone line and GCU Honors email account, including sending and responding to emails, addressing questions from students, parents, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders, calling and returning phone calls, and maintaining communication with current as well as prospective honors students
  • Assist with managing two national honor society chapters such as the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) and Alpha Chi (AX) National College Honor Society administratively and operationally, including event operations, email management, and chapter management
  • Manage and track applications for the Honors College Academic Excellence and Servant Leadership (AESL) Scholarships; respond to student inquiries and assist candidates in the application process
  • Manage, package, and ship welcome boxes to incoming honors students as they are admitted into the Honors College
  • Provide communication to both continuing and incoming students
  • Assist with staffing honors as well as non-honors events as needed, which may include set-up, tear-down, greeting guests, directing traffic, speaking, and occasionally presenting
  • Assist with directing walk-in traffic and ensure that the Honors Lounge is restocked with the necessary items/materials
  • Assist our Marketing and Global Studies teams with their projects/requests as needed
  • Assist with data entry, tracking, and management
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
