About The Position

The Project Management Specialist will report to the Director of Project Management with the core responsibility of providing project management support for all critical initiatives related to NYRR’s Community Impact Programs. This role will support leaders in managing cross-functional teams to execute projects that have been designed to help NYRR continue to reach its strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of project management experience
  • Demonstratable experience with change management and process improvement projects
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Strong passion for community programs, community engagement, youth empowerment
  • Resourceful, innovative, and strategic thinker
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills combined with a strong work ethic and tenacity
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • High initiative and ability to drive timely delivery of workplans
  • Capacity to synthesize large amounts of data and effectively present findings to leadership and area owners
  • Financial aptitude and business acumen, able to read, understand, translate, and create qualitative and quantitative reports related to financial and business performance
  • Superb time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; aptitude to work with a variety of internal and external constituencies
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team on collaborative assignments
  • Ability to exercise discretion with confidential matters and information
  • Familiar with NYC communities across all five boroughs
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • All staff are required to work the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon, RBC Brooklyn Half Marathon, and the TCS NYC Marathon
  • Ability to work occasional weekends or evenings
  • Hybrid work schedule, 2 days in office between Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with project management in non-profits, public health, community and/or youth programs highly preferred
  • PMP or other Project Management certification a plus
  • Knowledge of the New York City running community a plus
  • Experience in sports (especially running!) at any level a plus

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and monitor NYRR’s community-based projects & initiatives to maximize program impact
  • Ensure projects align with community strategy & needs and with organizational goals
  • Lead cross functional teams & team meetings to ensure project is successfully executed and stays within scope
  • Manage project budgets and resources
  • Develop and track project timelines with key milestones and risks, report regular progress to key stakeholders
  • Manage communications with internal and external stakeholders
  • Project management of new Community-based initiatives, including the planning, scoping and execution of any new youth and/or community programs
  • Support Director, Project Management in leading cross-functional team for planning and execution of annual org-wide initiatives/special projects related to our Community and Youth programs
  • Partner with Director, Project Management to instill PM best practices at NYRR by supporting development of project templates, documentation, contingency planning, and training materials
  • Build upon current cross-functional collaboration best practices with the goal of fostering increased communications and teamwork across the organization
  • Partner with other NYRR teams to identify and develop opportunities for operational improvement, embrace organization-wide change management and role model associated best practices
  • Assist with facilitation of internal innovation, collaboration and planning sessions
  • Assist with the execution of yearly internal strategy sessions and recaps for Youth and Community based programs
