Project Management II or III: Performs project management specialist work for Department projects. Work includes coordinating the development, implementation, maintenance, and support of the Critical Path Method (CPM) for Department projects, and providing support for resource leveling, priority development, project analysis, reporting, and training. Works directly with the project manager to help define the project’s goals and objectives. Work requires extensive contact with department staff, governmental agencies, and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor. Project Management II: Essential Duties: Assists in developing and supporting Standard Operating Procedures for developing, maintaining, and archiving project schedules in accordance with document retention policies. Develops and presents budget/cost summaries to the project managers and other employers. Plans, develops, maintains, and makes recommendations concerning detailed project schedules and facilitates on-time completion of projects with the optimal level of resources available. Analyzes and reports on program funding change scenarios and their impact to individual project schedules. Monitors and reviews the work of others to ensure project plans and schedules include the entire scope of work, management requirements, schedule hierarchy, division of responsibility, schedule review and approval requirements. Assists in updating and evaluating the accuracy of the project forecast by assessing actual cost incurred and physical progress achieved for all phases of the project. Project Management III: Essential Duties (in addition to Project Management Specialist II): Develops and supports Standard Operating Procedures for developing, maintaining, and archiving project schedules. Evaluates and makes recommendations for developing, monitoring, and updating integrated project plans and schedules so that projects may be executed in the most efficient and effective manner possible. Oversees the planning, development and maintenance of detailed project schedules and facilitates on-time completion of projects with the optimal level of resources available. Updates, evaluates, and makes recommendations concerning the accuracy of the project forecast by assessing actual cost incurred and physical progress achieved for all phases of the project. Analyzes and reports on program funding change scenarios and their impact to individual project schedules. Monitors and reviews the work of others to ensure project plans and schedules include the entire scope of work, management requirements, schedule hierarchy, division of responsibility, schedule review and approval requirements.
