The Project Leader for the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank is responsible for providing support and leadership to volunteers in the Supply Chain team. This role involves overseeing various projects aimed at ending hunger in the community, ensuring a positive experience for volunteers, and adhering to safety and food handling guidelines.

  • Lead a group of volunteers responsible for projects such as building kits of shelf stable food, packing grocery bags, and reboxing produce.
  • Oversee and assist volunteers in managing program supplies, set-up, check-in, sorting, and packing food boxes.
  • Train, supervise, and assign roles to a team, ensuring adherence to existing guidelines and protocols.
  • Orient volunteers and engage in public speaking.
  • Coordinate projects onsite and maintain a tidy workspace.
  • Ensure a friendly and positive volunteer area atmosphere.
  • Collect and communicate necessary information to Food Bank staff and the Community Engagement team.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely for warehouse duties.
  • Sort and process produce and food drive products.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead individuals and teams in a nonprofit setting.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and follow agency policies and procedures.
  • Solid understanding of food safety and public health guidelines.
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.

  • Previous warehouse experience.
